Posting early because I'm gone this weekend. Going to my wife's family reunion in Eastern Idaho. They are all cowboys, right out of Brokeback Mountain. Talk like it, look like it; minus that other stuff the movie's really about. I think.

Hopefully Leyland lets Fister go more than 2 innings in this one. Come on Leyland.

Papa Grande could use a day off. Tigers against a LH pitcher? Should be a win. Raburn at 3rd base, "maybe" Jimmy says.
It's gonna rain again for Fister, we'll be lucky to get this one in.
Think maybe the Twinkies and Royals could actually win for us?

Well, the Mariners won for me last night, so anything is possible. ;)

Hope they get it in. Maybe the Tigers will get the sweep for us. :)

Valverde is not being taxed right now. His pitch counts in his last three saves are 12, 13 and 15.

    Question

I read in the Yahoo preview for today's game that the Tigers last 8 wins have been by 1 run. Is this indicative of a team that isn't really very good and is enjoying a bit of luck? Or does it show they're the sort of team that can win the close ones during the dog days of this race?

They haven't played Betemit against a lefty starter in awhile. Splits this year aren't good and worse than career norms.

they are in Lehigh Valley which is 2 hours from Baltimore.

BTW, looks like this game will get rained out. If it does, I'd like to see Fister start Monday, keep Verlander in normal spot Tuesday, and put Porcello in Penny's spot on Wednesday. It would give Rick 2 extra days of rest, and get rid of Penny.

It's raining two hours before game time and it's all moving away. If there's a 30 minute delay to the start that will probably it. I'm guessing it starts on time. It most definitely won't be postponed.

You can't start skipping starters this early in the process. We are ahead in the division. No need to be reckless with the starting pitchers. And you can't go to the well of moving Verlander up everytime.

They skipped Penny just last week. I agree they shouldn't do it too often though.
