    You're right. I like beer. I love Motownsports.com.

OK, winning streak under way. I don't want much from this Twins game. Knock them down early, put in a couple of boots to the ribcage while they are lying there defenseless, jump on top, gouge their eyes out, and then grab their hair and rub their face in the gravel. I'm thinking maybe 17-2 just to start the series off. And I think that that is attainable, thanks to the wonder of Gardyball. He's a marvel, his teams just play the game the wrong way and they find a way to lose.

I should be rooting for the Twins this series since Detroit is ahead of us (Sox) in the standings but good judgement and moral standards simply won't allow it.

In short: BEAT THE TWINS! :)

    REALITY CHECK

First off, let me say I believe the hardest part of the season is now behind us. Look where we stand....right at .500! This is actually quite perfect. Here's the remainder of our schedule....

    Twins - 16
    Indians - 15
    Royals - 13
    White Sox - 12
    Angels - 7
    Orioles - 7
    Athletics - 6
    Rangers - 6
    Mariners - 4
    Rays - 4
    Rockies - 3
    Dodgers - 3
    D-backs - 3
    Mets - 3
    Giants - 3
    Blue Jays - 1

I come up 4 games short with this count, and I assume those are make ups that have yet to be put on the schedule.

That being said...it's a new season starting today folks, and the Tigers schedule all of a sudden looks very, very favorable.

I read somewhere, I think on this forum, that the Tigers have had the 11th hardest schedule?

Perfect? Come on man! This season is an absolute dissapointment. We're a horrible 2nd half team under Leyland. How exactly do you see the rest of the season going? I see us being 5 games over .500 at the AS break then finishing the second half being 5 games under, a 10 game drop and in 3rd place.

    Pass the kool-aid OH YEAH!!

It's impossible to say how favorable it is when you don't know how each team is going to be playing when you play them. It's a long season. Just because the Twins and Sox are sucking now doesn't mean that when we play them later in the season, that will continue.

However, we do play 56/110 games against our division.

In theory, we should be able to prosper within the confines of this remaining schedule. But if we remain a team with several .200 hitters and if the pen falters or the starters stop being excellent, we are screwed. It could go either way. I don't know why the club has pulled up lame later in the season under Leyland. I hardly think that his managing or motivational skills have anything to do about that. It's the players.

True. The Twins remind me of one of those herpes viruses that can lie dormant and harmless for years... but when conditions are right they come back in the most annoying and/or painful way possible.

I think our best baseball is ahead of us.

Like us in 2008, I think the Twins and White Sox are digging holes that will be hard to get out of. I also believe that Cleveland will come back down to earth.

"Perfect" isn't the right word, but my point is we haven't screwed ourselves into the ground.

I think we're about to turn it around. For those who want to crash my party of hope, well, screw off.

How 'bout Don Kelly at 3B agst the righthander? He had an RBI single last night. C'mon Jim! It's bad enough that Raburn's in there instead of Santiago. I realize that Jim's trying to get Ryan reestablished...

I'm a little verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. Range Factor is neither about a fielder's range, nor should it be much of a factor when discussing fielding prowess. Discuss.

Nick Blackburn is like Brad Penny, if Brad Penny gave up a ton of flyballs and homers. What I'm getting at here is he sucks, and he pitches for the Twins, so that's double suck. 10+ runs please
