I wish I had watched this game.
Good morale booster, the boys get to go into the off day on a positive note.

Actually, I do mind. Could you just spend up until 4:00 P.M. EST voting for Brandon?

Grienke gave up 3 runs and couldn't get the win against a weak offense, the question must be asked, is he really an ace? Strikeouts are nice but it's ERA and Wins that show you're getting the job done.

Well, what it does prove is that Lucas French is clearly the better pitcher than Greinke, because wins and losses are what go in the standings.

And therefore...
I had to change my first tag from "Greinke's Body Language!!!" to "French > Greinke". Because...
That's SO TRUE!!!

Here is an actual quote from Joe Morgan in regards to Jason Marquis
"The name of the game, people always want to forget, for pitchers is wins and losses. If you beat a team 1-0, as he did recently, or 5-4, it doesn't matter. If you win, that goes on the team's side of the victory column. I'm not so much for a guy that has a low ERA and a losing record. That tells me that the other pitcher pitched better than he did, because that team scored more runs. Jason Marquis is a good pitcher. He's not a shut down pitcher, he's not a No. 1, but he deserves to be in the All-Star game."

Well obviously, Joe is assuming that the pitcher in question has an abnormally low BABIP against, and will surely regress to the mean, thereby inflating his artificially low ERA.
Right?

I think if you asked Joe Morgan about BABIP, he'd start talking about TVs or phones.
