Brutal inning. You can't really blame JV for his pitch count because he hasn't been throwing balls. He's had a couple ABs where he gets a bunch of 2 strike fouls, and those destroy a pitch count.

I just want to apologize...I traded for Verlander on my fantasy team during his ridiculously awesome stretch. Clearly it's my fault that he now sucks ***!

I've never seen anything like this. How can KC either completely miss pitches or foul them off weakly 90% of the time, and then one the one time they actually make contact in play, they drill it. WTFrigg.
What is Justin to do?

This is when the hitters need a good approach at the plate and make Chen work.

He doesn't have control of his curve today, so that hurts. But he seems to have a nice change today, so he should break that out more second time through.

Wow, a first-pitch soft grounder to SS by Maggs. Stunning.

Another quick inning for Tigers offense. Inge had the only quality AB that inning.

Thanks, Raburn and Magglio, for swinging on the first pitch for no apparent reason when our pitcher has thrown 55 in two innings.

Compare the Royals' approach at the plate to the Tigers' pathetic approach. This is brutal to watch. 1/2 of the hitters seem to bat with no plan at the plate at all, just hack.

Let's start simple, with runners. Then we'll work up to scoring position. Then we'll work up to getting two strikeouts without already being out. Then the clutch hit.

What a play on both ends.
You know, that's a refrain this year. Lots of times when Inge or Everett or Santiago make a great play on the left side, Cabrera scoops their less-than-accurate, rushed throws like a pro.

Guillen grounds to Everett in the hole. Everett dives and throws to Cabrera, who makes the pick, although it looks as he wasn't on the base, but we'll take it!
Verlander with 66 pitches
3-1 Royals
