Default 11/21/09 Detroit at Montreal

Pitching in until the proper GDT is posted, or in case Shinma got tied up. Original Six matchup tonight.

If Kronwall is out a while, this is utter bull.

There should be 2 penalties on that play. Seemed like the ref had his arm up to give a penalty to the Habs, then as play continued another Wing was blatantly trippe.d

6 minute PP for the Wings, even better. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

So let me get this straight. Saturday night. Original Six matchup. Only time Detroit plays in Montreal in 2 years. HNIC national game ... But instead of wearing their classic red, white & blues, the Habs come out with jerseys like an AHL team. Way to detract from the occasion. See, it's not only Bettman who kills tradition; this is the Habs' marketing/merchandising department.

After looking HORRIBLE for much of the powerplay, the Wings actually score! The last 2:00 of the PP will still be on the clock, I believe?

Wings even being on the power play are looking disroganized. Passes in the skates, no flow etc.

Good thing they are up 2-0

About 7 minutes in the 2nd period and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Canadiens come back and tie this one up.

Wings are cruising after 2. Wings are not at their best tonight, but thanks to penalties and to the Habs just not being a very good team, they have the lead 2-0.

The big suspense of course is Kronwall's status. Here's the Laraque goonery that took him out:

I'm freaking livid about Laraque, sorry. I can't believe what that piece of garbage has gotten away with in his career. Goonery is one thing. What he deliberately did to Kronwall is not goonery. It's unsportsmanlike. It's completely uncalled for. And if Bettman had any balls, he would be suspended for a long time. But it's the NHL. I guarantee that piece of garbage will be only suspended for 2 games.

.....and the candiens score

Half way thru the 3rd and Cammalleri knots it up (his 2nd) after he is left open in front of Howard.

I am impressed with their leather gloves though (or leather appearance). That look definitely goes back a few years.

I was just going to say that. It wasn't immediately obvious to me either, but I eventually put 2 and 2 together. Or put 1 and 0 and 0 together.

Howard redeems himself for the weak goal he let in at the start of the 3rd by making a great save on the 1st shot of the SO, leading to the Wings' victory.

Now on to the 2nd game of the HNIC doubleheader, to scout and root against the Hawks. The pizza I ordered seems overcooked, otherwise the night has been pretty good.

Hawks are romping through Alberta. 3-1 in the 1st for them already over Edmonton tonight, after defeating Calgary 7-1. Listening to Preds-Jackets as they approach OT tied late in regulation.
