  1. I hope AJ Hinch is wide enough to hire a new coaching staff that does not include any of his Houston cronies. I’m not happy with the hiring of Hinch, however I will never abandon my beloved Detroit Tigers. With AJ Hinch now in Detroit, would JV be open minded about returning to Detroit after his Tommy John surgery? For me, it’s always been weird seeing JV in the Astros uniform.
  2. I believe Brad Ausmus didn’t get along with David Price. I remember Ausmus removing Price from a game in Detroit and Price just walked down a tunnel and inside the Tigers clubhouse. Ausmus was looking for Price in the dugout and Verlander was sent to find out the whereabouts of Price. Verlander tells Ausmus Price has left the ballpark. I can’t remember the specific date or Detroit‘s opposition that day. We all know Price became a malcontent after coming to Detroit and continued in Toronto and Boston. Price and Dennis Eckersley had a verbal confrontation on a character flight.
  3. How many candidates has Al Avila interviewed thus far? Who’s got the advantage to become the next Tigers manager? I’m going to be very disappointed if Avila hires AJ Hinch or Alex Cora.
  4. Is Brandon Inge working in college or professional baseball? I’m wondering if our cult hero would like to be the next manager of the Detroit Tigers?
  5. Don’t hire AJ Hinch or Alex Cora. I would never want my beloved Detroit Tigers accused of cheating to win a game. I would interview former Tiger farmhand and former Blue Jays coach Tim Leiper or Phil Nevin.
  6. Thanks for all of the enjoyable replies to my topic. Everybody has their opinion, however we all want to see our beloved Detroit Tigers winning again soon. Perhaps I was blinded by the horrific Randy Smith fiasco years as the Tigers GM.
  7. When I say the Tigers front office doesn’t do very well in the free agent market; I’m including the Randy Smith(GM) days. Remember Joe Randa, Craig Paquette, Chris Truby and other average free agent talent? Didn’t Dave Dombrowski sign Troy Percival? Thank god the cost of Prince Fielder’s contract comes off Detroit’s books, soon.
  8. Thanks for the information. I thought Francisco Lindor was a free agent after this 2020 season.
  9. I like the suggestion of moving Jeimer Candelario back to third base. CJ Cron and Jonathan Schoop both had one year contracts for 2020. I like both Cron and Schoop, however I would bring back Schoop over Cron. I believe every MLB team needs a solid everyday second baseman.
  10. Please stay away from the big name free agent signing this off-season. I would love to get Francisco Lindor in the Tigers lineup, but I’m afraid he will become a fourth rate player in Detroit. Detroit’s front office doesn’t do well in the free agent market. We cannot afford another disaster like Jordan Zimmerman or Dontrelle Willis. Willis, if I remember correctly, was acquired from the Florida Marlins with Miggy for Andrew Miller. In the long run, the Tigers could be better off going with the their current group of rookie infielders. What’s your opinion on keeping Jeimer Candelario at first base?
  11. Have we all seen enough of Matthew Boyd’s inability to pitch at the major league level? I certainly hope so.
  12. So many things went wrong for the Tigers in 2019. I know Josh Harrison got injured, and I believe he was 2 for 25 to start the season at the plate. I was disappointed, the consistency Harrison showed in Pittsburgh never materialized in Detroit.
  13. I became interested in Japanese baseball when former Montreal Expo Warren Cromartie signed with the Tokyo Giants in ‘83. It can be difficult waking up to watch games at 3:30am. I like to watch the games live.
  14. Steven Moya is now playing in Japan. At the time of this posting, Moya is hitting.281/10 HR/43 RBI’s. He’s been traded or DFA’d at least once. I hope he picks up his play, soon. In Japan, I’ve been told the GM’s put the foreign born players under a lot of stress and demand excellent effort every day. Foreign born players can make big money in Japan, however their is very little tolerance for an extended slump or poor defensive play. Japanese baseball is big on fundamentals. The Japanese teams start their spring training with snow on the ground.
  15. My mistake. I forgot about Travis Demeritte. Outfield competition is going to be a nice problem for the Tigers brass to solve. I would make JaCoby Jones a utility player. He has experience at SS and we can say goodbye to Jordy Mercer and Ronny Rodriguez. Keep Brandon Dixon, too.
