  1. To be fair about the pitching, they have lost: Fulmer, Ross, Moore, Turnbull (off and on). That is essentially 3 of the original staring 5. Zimm has been out for a month or so as well, so of the original starting 5, only Boyd is still pitching. Granted, that starting 5 was not going to be great, but I am pretty confident that this team would not be languishing as it is if they had not gotten all of the injuries to the starting pitching. That has had a cascading effect on the bullpen, and thus caused a lot of guys to be either starting or pitching in key situations who clearly do not belong in the majors. Of course, Zimm being al time bad does not help either Now, for the bats, that is an entirely different story. They have one legit bat now, in Nick, and he is on his way out the door. This awful hitting is only going to get worse, unless they play the Orioles 10 more times.
  2. We all know that if the Rays get Joe he will be a stud reliever., but here in Detroit he struggles to get key outs.
  3. The Tigers should be embarrassed by their performances against the Tribe. They have been flat out dominated by then after tonight they will be 1-11 this year last year they were: 6-13 In 2017 they were 6-13 in 2016 they were 4-15 That makes it 17 and 52, plus they lost the last 4 in 2015, so the Tribe would be 56-17 against the Tigers, for a 76.7% winning percentage that is total domination
  4. Fundamentals 101 cost the Tigers again. And I can’t remember the last time the Tigers bunted, or even tried to beat the shift by going the other way.
  5. Tigers are 0/10 with RISP this series. And Cabrera looks like he has officially checked out. I never would have expected him to play as many games with so few home runs and RBI. His double tonight was rubbish, it should have been caught and should have been an error Edit. Tigers are now 1/11 and they have scored a run for Turnbull
  6. You are correct!! Zero. That is hard to do, but not for the Tigers
  7. Anyone care to guess how many runs the Tigers have scored for Turnbull in now his 4th start of the year against the Tribe? In all 4 starts combined that is?
  8. I can see no reason to ever pitch Carpenter in the big leagues again. Barring a miraculous turnaround. This is going to be an ugly end to an already ugly season
  9. Here are the even uglier numbers with 2 outs and RISP, the Tigers are at .188 as a team, as opposed to .223 with just RISP k Name G GS PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA ▼ OBP SLG OPS TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB ROE BAbip tOPS+ sOPS+ 1 Miguel Cabrera 23 24 21 3 8 2 0 0 7 0 0 3 2 .381 .458 .476 .935 10 0 0 0 0 0 0 .421 149 148 2 Victor Reyes 5 6 6 1 2 1 0 0 2 0 0 0 1 .333 .333 .500 .833 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 .400 139 118 3 Dawel Lugo 7 10 10 3 3 0 2 1 6 0 0 0 3 .300 .300 1.000 1.300 10 0 0 0 0 0 0 .333 344 228 4 Brandon Dixon 25 27 26 6 7 0 0 1 8 1 0 1 8 .269 .296 .385 .681 10 0 0 0 0 0 0 .353 87 79 5 Harold Castro 15 17 15 3 4 0 0 0 4 1 0 2 3 .267 .353 .267 .620 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 .333 77 67 6 JaCoby Jones 25 31 25 3 6 2 0 1 9 1 0 6 10 .240 .387 .440 .827 11 0 0 0 0 2 1 .357 123 119 7 Ronny Rodriguez 20 21 20 6 4 1 1 0 5 0 0 1 7 .200 .238 .350 .588 7 0 0 0 0 0 0 .308 76 54 8 John Hicks 22 27 27 5 5 2 0 0 5 1 0 0 6 .185 .185 .259 .444 7 0 0 0 0 0 0 .238 58 16 9 Nicholas Castellanos 28 31 29 13 5 0 0 1 7 0 0 2 5 .172 .226 .276 .502 8 0 0 0 0 1 0 .174 26 32 10 Grayson Greiner 21 26 24 4 4 0 0 1 5 0 0 1 12 .167 .231 .292 .522 7 0 1 0 0 0 0 .273 105 38 11 Dustin Peterson 4 6 6 1 1 1 0 0 2 1 0 0 2 .167 .167 .333 .500 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 .250 65 29 12 Bobby Wilson 5 6 6 1 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 2 .167 .167 .167 .333 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 .250 104 -11 13 Jordy Mercer 7 9 7 1 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 2 3 .143 .333 .143 .476 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 .250 82 32 14 Niko Goodrum 31 39 36 13 5 1 0 0 6 0 0 3 13 .139 .205 .167 .372 6 0 0 0 0 0 0 .217 9 0 15 Christin Stewart 27 32 29 7 4 1 0 1 7 0 0 3 8 .138 .219 .276 .495 8 0 0 0 0 1 0 .150 41 30 16 Gordon Beckham 14 17 16 9 2 2 0 0 2 1 0 0 8 .125 .176 .250 .426 4 0 1 0 0 0 0 .250 25 12 17 Jeimer Candelario 17 20 17 4 2 0 0 0 2 1 0 2 6 .118 .250 .118 .368 2 0 1 0 0 0 0 .182 16 2 18 Josh Harrison 15 18 18 4 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 4 .056 .056 .056 .111 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 .071 -53 -70 19 Mikie Mahtook 2 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 .000 .000 .000 .000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
  10. Looking at that chart, he is 110th in number of runners available to be scored. That is really low for a guy who has played over 90% of his teams games. 11. The thing is, Cabrera is hitting over .400 with RISP, and yet still only has 36 RBI. That tells me two things: 1. He does not get many chances to hit with guys on base 2. When he does get hits with guys on base, it is usually a single that may score one run. Very limited power, in the past he would hit 2 run doubles, 3 run home runs, now, he will hit maybe an RBI single. Also, the Tigers as a whole, and Miggy for sure do not get to use the new and improved baseballs that the rest of the league gets to use. Or, as a I have said a lot, and others have also said, they have limited hitting talent, and that talent is not adjusting to the current landscape of the game these days. They definitely need a new direction for their hitting approach from the top of the organization to the bottom.
  12. The Tigers wont score 50 runs in a month, which is worse?
  13. Tigers runs scored each for the last 8 games: 1-7-1-1-1-3-3-0 That is hard to do, to get 1 or less in 5 games out of 8. They had a good ratio (for them today), 1 walk and only 15 strikeouts, a lot of which were balls out of the zone.
  14. Another day, another game with 1 run scored. What an abysmal offense.
  15. Big Joe does his best Big Joe imitation, and boom it is 2-1 again.
  16. Dixon takes C-Mo's advice to heart and drives a ball in the zone the other way for a home run. This guy has 11 home runs, for comparison sake, Miggy has 4
  17. Scherzer is dealing today, of course it is against the fightin C-Mo's and the toothless Tigers
  18. That is hard to do, although with this ragtag squad and inept coaching, it should be expected. They are falling waaaay behind all other AL teams in runs scored. At this point, if they get 3, it is time for a party.
  19. The Tigers next closest AL team, the Orioles, put up a 13 spot tonight. The Tigers have not scored 13 runs in their past 6 games combined ( 9 runs), another oh-fer with RISP. The only way they can win is 1-0. Lloyd deserves a promotion
  20. Tigers last 23 home games, they have 2 or less in 12 of them, per Dan and Jim.
  21. What, me whine about the hitting? Never ......
  22. I expect the hitting coach to change water into wine, none of this lemonade stuff
  23. Nice offense again today. This is getting past comical how bad they are hitting, and how bad they are playing overall at home Dan and Jim are saying the Tigers just make it way too easy most every night for the opposing pitcher. And how the pitchers feel so much stress as they feel like they have to be perfect every night out to have a chance. They need to change something one of these days
