  1. The commentary was very informative in describing how the come-back line-drive affected Mize. He starts his delivery with a split finger grip so he doesn't have to alter to the more difficult grip in his glove. They demonstrated how a bruised forearm could affect the grip and Mize wasn't as dominant after the line drive. The real test for the scouts was about how he handled adversity and he seemed to handle it quite well with the help from his offense ...
  2. I was going to post that future Tiger Casey Mize has a surprising good-looking slider to go with that nasty cutter before he was hit in the forearm with an aluminum bat line drive. Still looking good now and I think the jinx is safe ...
  3. Sounds good @TigerNation I should be good to go then ...
  4. Looks like Mize is scheduled to start tonight on SEC+ @ Alabama (Friday 4-20-18). I think you can watch the game on ESPN Watch with a cable account but I'm not sure yet since I haven't quite figured it out. I have Spectrum in Kalamazoo if anyone knows for sure if it can be watched ...
  5. Rondon's stuff is just electric. It just a matter of time before he takes on the role. The Tigers are obviously waiting for him to better command the zone, but when his curve ball is on and he uses it he's not likely to get hit regardless ...
  6. Further proof that the Thread police have won ...
  7. I'm one who would rather see a consistent closer option. The season is too long and I'd prefer to have the stability on the back end with one closer. However if we don't have that guy then this is obviously the best option. I don't necessarily see a long term scenario where it stays this way and I hope the Tigers don't end up regretting not having someone to fill the role with so much on the line heading into the season ...
  8. I'll go with a guy with the same first name as mine, only he can hit for a higher average, run faster and field his position better. The one, the only Andy Dirks ...
  9. Castellanos and Brantley on the list again, ho hum, same old same old ...
  10. Too bad Oliver and Crosby can't throw enough strikes. Our rotation could use a boost and I'm on the annual send Porcello down kick (if possible of course). I'm a little surprised Eldred hasn't received more of shot, but of course that's come to be expected regarding 4A players ...
  11. I mostly agree. There is a lot of baseball to play and the Tigers haven't played nearly their best baseball. I'm not happy with where we are however and my biggest worry is that Percello and Scherzer are considerably overrated at this point and we may need for one of them to work out and find another starter somewhere.
  12. Not to necessarily hijack things, but what's the word on Marte's progress? I was looking for him to be a positive for our pen if he was healthy.
  13. Power's still the ultimate game changer and the last thing a pitcher wants to see at the plate. I'd like to see what he can do in Detroit by as early as tomorrow ...
  14. Interesting take. I think there will plenty of praise for Leyland if we have a big year; lifetime achievement and stuff. Likewise, if we struggle with this squad, in this division, the pressure will be hot.
  15. Personally I think the Tiggers are set up nicely with the options they currently have vying for the number five spot. Any one of the these could surprise, sink or swim. If they all sink, there could very well be another option through the waiver route at the end of spring. However with five options I don't think the latter is very likely ...
  16. +1 Yoda. In my strong opinion more times than not, it's about ability, either you have what it takes or you don't ...
  17. Tramfan selects Prince Fielder (assuming the rumors are true). If not I'll pick another budding Tiger stud ...
  18. ... and Avila didn't strike out 181 times this year with little to no power. Heck, I even think Avila got on base once in a while ...
