  1. I assume you saw him in Connecticut? The Dodd Stadium gun is very slow. Always has been. You have to sit behind the plate and peek at the scouts' guns if you want to know how hard a guy is actually throwing. I was at Manning's start a few days ago. His fastball sat 92-94 and touched 96.
  2. Yes, he got hurt. Some sort of leg injury. Couldn't tell exactly what.

  6. I'm surprised to see Westlake at 12 while Collins isn't on the list. I was far more impressed with Collins' tools than Westlake's from the games I saw in Connecticut.

  10. College football season returns Thursday with a bunch of games that are likely to excite no one. Looks like the juiciest opening night matchup might be Syracuse and Wake Forest. Yawn. At least we have Oregon-LSU to look forward to on Saturday. Nonetheless, I'm excited to watch my Huskies pummel Fordham on ESPN3.com. Chips fans will get to see their team open the season against South Carolina State on opening night as well. Here's a list of some notable games this week: Thursday Fordham at Connecticut Wake Forest at Syracuse UNLV at #11 Wisconsin Friday Youngstown State at #17 Michigan State #14 TCU at Baylor Saturday Northwestern at Boston College Minnesota at #25 USC South Florida at #16 Notre Dame Western Michigan at Michigan Troy at Clemson UCLA at Houston BYU at Ole Miss Fresno State at Cal East Carolina at #12 South Carolina #5 Boise State at #19 Georgia #3 Oregon at #4 LSU Tulsa at #1 Oklahoma Sunday Marshall at #24 West Virginia SMU at #8 Texas A&M Monday Miami at Maryland

  13. It was a fun game. Al drew a huge crowd (by Dodd Stadium standards). Al Avila and David Chadd were also in the house. Tyler Collins' home run was a bomb. Dodd Stadium is typically very pitcher-friendly, but Collins has been making it look small ever since he arrived.

  21. Former running back who really became the heart and soul of the Syracuse defense. IIRC, he racked up a lot of tackles for loss and was often making plays in the backfield. He is a huge reason for Syracuse's turnaround last year and was one of the better linebackers in the Big East.
  22. Exactly. Use the draft to add talent. Use free agency to fill needs.
