  1. Money-wise, Moehler has about $1 million left on the ledger for this year, Espinoza had signed an 8-year, guaranteed major league contract for 2.75 million last year. Espinoza will average 350,000 until 2007. Can you say "sucker"?
  2. Espinoza was signed to an 8 year, major league contract.
  3. Actually Folly, I've done quite a bit of listening to your station over the years, and you guys do an outstanding job of reaching to a more "diverse" listening audience. I think DFN will stick around, they've always done a good job (it seems) of delivering somewhat cheap entertainment.
  4. DF, aren't you with a competitor of DFN? Doesn't that taint your opinion of them a tad?
  5. Reminds me. Madden '03 will hit the racks August 14th. Can't wait.
  6. Brad Penny would be a pipe dream of the Tigers. No way would they get him for Redman. I was wondering when the rumors would start up for Redman; he does have alot of value, especially with all the quality starts he's had this year. Btw, KLL, I wouldn't look at Maroth "down the road" so to say. He's a band-aid. Right now, I'd be looking at Cornejo, Loux (he throws a heavy sinker, alot like Cornejo), Baugh (if he's healthy), Wheatland (ditto), and Bonderman.
  7. Higgy might be there, for a while at least.
  8. Santos and Merrill aren't very talented, so don't expect them to "turn it around". What makes it a bad trade is the money issue. Smith's biggest weakness was spending money foolishly, and falling in love with his players, if you know what I mean.
  9. If healthy is certainly the key, Mark. But the Lions do have much better depth at the position (it seems) than ever before.
  10. I don't see much upside to Farnsworth. He probably will start next year in Toledo, but I don't see him being anything more than a long reliever in MLB. Paniagua is another story. He has good stuff, he needs to get it together. Probably a good thing he wasn't claimed on waivers.
  11. Ricky Waters won't be signed. He has a "fear of flying", and won't sign. He's done. Stewart will start, Staley could impress, but they'll be real careful with his injured legs. Cason could beat out Warren for the 3d down spot. He really needs to hold onto the ball, but he's definitely the Lions' fastest back.
  12. It was newsworthy, WDFN did a terrific job with it. They also contacted the police, which should say alot about their credibility.
  13. The Lions didn't get blown out by Green Bay? Or at Cleveland? Or at Pittsburgh? Or at Chicago? None of those games were ever close.
  14. Larson and Mateo are both older prospects, which isn't what the Tigers want. There are other prospects in the Reds system, dare I suggest Wily Mo, who's got the same kind of deal as Munson, he needs to be on a ML roster next year, and has a high ceiling, but does have his drawbacks. The Tigers should deal Moehler, and anyone else with any salary/value.
  15. I disagree. The Bengals have drafted well the past few years, and aren't far away from becoming a real force. If they had a better QB, I'd definitely call them a playoff team, but until then, they're knocking at the door. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 10 games this year.
  16. Zach, I disagree with you about Sardhina. He's a prospect. You must keep in mind that catcher has always been and will always be a defensive position, where Sardhina excels. He's the 9th ranked prospect in the Cincinnati system according to BA. The other prospect, Olmedo, looks fabulous. According to BA's prospect handbook, "Olmedo plays the most exciting infield defense the organization has seen since Pokey Reese was ascending through the system in the mid 1990's."
  17. AL East: New York AL Central: Minnesota AL West: Seattle Wild Card: Oakland NL East: Atlanta NL Central: St. Louis NL West: Los Angeles Wild Card: Arizona
  18. Anybody notice how well 2002 draft picks #3 Curtis Granderson and #7 Wilton Reynolds are playing? At short-season class A Oneonta in the NY-Penn league, Reynolds has 7 HR, 33 RBI, and a .950ish OPS; while Granderson is hitting .409, .462 OBP, and a whopping 1.058 OPS, albeit in only 37 abs. If I were Brent Clevlen, Robbie Sovie, or Bo Flowers, I'd sign real quick before I'd get lost in the shuffle.
  19. Danny Knoebler of the Booth newspapers said on Stoney & Wojo that the meeting was so the two sides would "get along".
  20. The Lions have plenty of corners. The only case where the Lions would pick one up is if they can put one on the practice squad. The Lions will be much more interested in TE's that become available. Corner isn't a real strong position in the NFL, and any that do become available really aren't that good. Kirkland has seen his better days, is too big, and can only play 2 downs.
  21. Biff, can you please start a "Fire Rob Parker" petition. Thanks.
  22. I like the fact he gets to retire with 666 carreer catches!
  23. I'm sure that had nothing to do with that. It's all about what's best for the football team, and always the QB position is the most important position on the football field. Also, Joey Harrington was the best football player available when the Lions picked.
