  1. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-27-prospects-kansas-city-royals/ 1. Seuly Matias, RF Video Signed: July 2nd Period, 2015 from Dominican Republic (KCR) Age 20.6 Height 6′ 3″ Weight 200 Bat / Thr R / R FV 45+ Tool Grades (Present/Future) Hit Raw Power Game Power Run Fielding Throw 30/40 70/70 40/60 50/40 40/45 70/70 With few exceptions (Joey Gallo is one) even the most whiff-prone big leaguers struck out less than Matias (34% career K%) when they were in the minors. But Matias’ physicality and bat speed are so supreme, the gap between his talent and that of most players so obvious, that there’s a chance he can be one of those exceptions, even if it’s in a streaky, inconsistent manner like Domingo Santana or Carlos Gomez. As a teen, Seuly was already posting exit velocities on par with burly, Quad-A type hitters. We hope he learns to take a walk, but “Randal Grichuk with more raw power” is a good player, so we’re cautiously optimistic that the Royals at least have a contributing big leaguer here, and a potential superstar if there’s contact/approach refinement, which is admittedly easier said than done.

  3. Have to factor in park for Ramos. He's older, not really a top prospect. BA calls him a DH only. Matias and Gomez both have skills and can play of. Matias especially has one of the biggest arms to go with big time power potential.
  4. Some of the other unprotected players include Moises Gomez of TB, Wander Javier of the Twins, Buddy Reed and Estury Ruiz of the Padres, and Jhailyn Ortiz of the Phillies. None of which move the needle as much as Seuly to me.

  6. I can't believe Seuly Matias wasn't protected!
  7. Basically my point is that Tork shouldn't be downgraded because of position. In fact, he fills many needs in the organization, for a big bat and at 1st base. The only thing that would make me hesitate about that pick is if Martin goes nuts.
  8. They have no power in the organization either. There's no problem with drafting a 1b only when you don't have one. He has to hit.
  9. Isn't 1b a huge need in the organization? There's nobody there.
  10. He'll go in top couple of picks next year.
  11. DL @davelozo Disney+ is more useful than Disney because it takes things like park effects into account 10:36 AM · Nov 12, 2019·Twitter for iPhone 619 Retweets 4.1K Likes
  12. I remember in 1987 when the Tigers were about 19-31, I thought they had a pretty good team that should of had a better record than that. I was right. I went back to Baseball Reference, and my memory got the best of me. They were 11-19 at one point, I'm pretty sure that was the time.
