  1. Ausmus mentioned in his post-game interview they were worried about the ball that Pinto hit off his elbow/arm in the 2nd inning. He said it began to tighten up on Porcello as the game went on. That's what they came out to check on in the bottom of the 6th inning.
  2. He would give ketchup to you after a little bit of razzing, but I've seen on a few occasions that he made little kids cry because he harrassed them that they put ketchup on hot dogs. The little ones couldn't differentiate that he was only teasing them.
  3. Agreed. This is one person from Toledo who would go to many more games if the Pistons played in downtown Detroit.
  4. This is good stuff from the Cavs website from Dan Gilbert. I am going to quote the letter and provide the link, although I would imagine David Stern gets Gilbert to take the link down before too long. Cavaliers: Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight; As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us. The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you. There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you. You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal. You have given so much and deserve so much more. In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE" You can take it to the bank. If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels. Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there. Sorry, but that's simply not how it works. This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become. But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio. The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma. Just watch. Sleep well, Cleveland. Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day.... I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only: DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue.... Dan Gilbert Majority Owner Cleveland Cavaliers
  5. The CBSSports site shows the Magic and Elimination numbers for all teams. MLB Standings
  6. Nice Plans! Where are you flying in from?
  7. I just wanted to let those of you know who didn't know that NFL Network is going to replay the Lions first Pre-season game tomorrow (Monday) at 10:00 A.M. The game was taken from the Falcons feed, but it should be in HD, so set your DVR's.
  8. I think the Lions will sell-out the Steelers and Packers (Thanksgiving) games this year. The Steelers fans will invade Ford Field this year and probably outnumber the Lions fans. The Thanksgiving game always sells out, plus it's the Packers and they travel well. The only other game that could be close is the Browns.
  9. It's more like an hour away (70 miles) from Dayton to Columbus, but Dayton is Ohio State country. Louisville isn't that far away either being about 2 hours (150 miles). Louisville actually could play 2 hours away in Dayton, then less than 2 hours in Indy (114 miles), and if they make it to the Final Four 5 hours in Detroit (360 miles). Not a bad trip for Louisville fans in any of the rounds.
  10. I bet Pat Bowlen is having second thoughts on firing Mike Shanahan after last season? Now hiring Bill Belichick wannabee McDaniels looks like is turning into a train wreck. I don't see this ending very good for the rookie head coach. McDaniels must have thought he could use the 'my way or the highway' mindset that Belichick uses? The passionate Broncos fans are gonna turn on McDaniels big time if he can't get these issues with Cutler resolved. What a way to start off your stint as a rookie head coach!!!
  11. astrocreep, just wait for the draft. This idiot Mayhew will probably trade up into the 2nd round to draft players that that would have been available in the 3rd or 4th rounds (after all he learned this technique from the great Millen). Cruzer and Mschottey1985 will say how great the players are that the Lions just traded (reached) up for. They'll tell us how this is the greatest draft we've ever had. blahblahblah. We've heard this same story forever as a Lions fan.
  12. I don't have a problem reading Hongbit's opinions. In fact, I agree with most of them. There has been nothing so far to get excited about during free agency! I feel most of the free agents that would have helped us just used us to drive up their price for the next 1 or 2 teams they visited (and eventually signed with). I'm not sure what there is to get excited about? I for one haven't seen much so far in the process from Mayhew to make me think he isn't anything but a Matt Millen clone? Sure he traded Roy Williams for a late 1st and 3rd, but now he doesn't have anybody opposite Calvin at WR. Incidentally, I've decided to give up my season tickets this year that I have had for the last 10 years. I can think of many things to do with the $1000 the tickets cost this year. The Lions had the audacity to put in my season ticket packet that they weren't raising prices this year. Beautiful, you have raised them from $25 (at the Silverdome) to $50 (now at Ford Field) and you're not going to raise them after a 0-16 season? What about lowering them to try and keep some of the idiots (me included) who have bought them over the last decade of futility? Had they lowered them, I might have renewed. Also, I probably would have renewed them had the Lions cleaned house and held a search for new management instead of just retaining Mayhew and Lewand. My predictions so far with the players they've been able to acquire in free agency is that they will be lucky to get 2 or 3 wins next year. I don't have any faith in Culpepper either. He's horrible, old, and slow. The Lions season win total last year was 6.5 (and the bettors in Vegas were favoring the over). I bet $1000 (+130) on the Lions to get less than 6.5 wins last year and won my bet after just 10 games. This season the wins total will probably be 4. I think I'm gonna bet them under again. I doubt I can find the +130 again for the under?
  13. This is an admission by the Pistons that they swung and missed on the AI for Chauncey trade. I wouldn't be surprised if he is hurt (wink, wink) the rest of the year. The Pistons are a better TEAM without him on the court. AI's problem now is that he can't (or hasn't as a Piston anyways) score as much as the player he is guarding scores. I didn't realize from watching him only 4 games a year how miserable he was on defense. The reason they have went on a winning streak without him is that he isn't on the court in the all important last 5 minutes of the game. Without him out there they actually have guys that can play some defense and get defensive stops.
  14. It looks like the 6th round pick in the 2009 draft received in the Roy Williams trade is the 6th rounder originally from Miami. The Cowboys original 6th rounder was traded to Tennessee in the 'Pac-Man' deal. The following draft website shows a mock for all 7 rounds and shows the updated Lions 6th received from the Cowboys to be originally from Miami: http://www.nfldraftsite.com/index.htm
  15. Detroit only has 2-3rd rounders in the 2009 draft. The 3rd rounder they got from Cleveland in the Shawn Rogers deal was a 2008 3rd rounder. The following website shows an updated list of all the trades in upcoming drafts: http://www.nfldraftsite.com/Trades.htm This site also shows in the mock draft section that the 6th round pick they got from Dallas for Roy Williams is Miami's 6th rounder. They show Dallas' original 6th rounder was traded to Tennessee in the 'Pac-Man' deal.
