  1. Dan was just saying... who do you put in? Blane Hardy is used... we truly don't.
  2. It's April in the D. We have cold weather in April typically. This is not good
  3. This is a genius move. Really is.... Even if it's true, it allows Soria to come in and get some saves. If he's successful then Ausmus easily says 'we can't make a change with success'. If Soria bombs, then 'here comes our closer back'.
  4. I think Simon may be a long reliever by June. I just don't see it with him... Lobstein i have more confidence in.
  5. I just got done reading the thread. To me, this is a calculated gamble by the Organization to start Price. I think it's part of the grooming / ego-stroking process of the Tigers for Price to allure him to resign with Detroit. He was also better than Verlander last year and the year before. However, I think it's risky in the sense that you can really rattle teach mojo and chemistry by pissing off the go to guy for the past 5/7 years as pitcher. We may look down at Early 30's JV now, but he may have single-handedly been the pitcher that brought the Tigers back out of 100 win loss extinction. To have him not get opening day then start a game with about 1/2 the stands full is saying something. As a baseball move it's the right move. As an organization/ team move, we'll see if Price re-signs or not.
  6. I personally love this move. Thoughts? I think it shows a couple of things; performance is #1 on the team over contract and loyalty and it also shows Detroit's commitment to taking care of players. It can't hurt a bit for our run at an extension with him either.
  7. It's interesting... Rod always has those little comments he'll slip in 'kind of like our contract, eh Mario?'.
  8. Yep, sounds like Rod becomes 1/3 time. Jack Morris, Kirk Gibson join Rod Allen as FSD Tigers analysts | FOX Sports
  9. All makes good sense. I guess I don't know enough about the types of leg exercises they do besides the obvious us 8-5 guys do after work.
  10. Scherzer can likely DH when not pitching... he's available right?
  11. Yep... hope for a small tear at worst. A friend from the field sent this to me on Facebook- Eight weeks until he's back. But he'll start therapy a couple of weeks after surgery. He probably stays in Lakeland when everyone comes north the end of March. Plays for a week or two. Then the same for Toledo and he's in the lineup by end of April.
  12. I understand that. I'm sure much more physical exertion, but in a semi-controlled manner in the gym (supposed to be at least). Versus the unpredictability of sliding and running the bases.
  13. The good news is it is not the ACL, supposedly much worse of a recovery. Gosh, what type of offseason workouts does Victor do that are worse than his games... Jeesh
  14. Wouldn't expect to see Victor at Comerica Park batter box until late July or August. Meniscus Tear: Surgical Repair and Recovery
  15. Per Detroit Tigers---- V-Mart Update: Victor Martinez injured his left knee last week during his off-season workout program. He underwent an MRI and examination at the Watson Clinic yesterday which revealed Martinez suffered a torn medial meniscus in his left knee. He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday of next week with Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida. An additional update will be given at that time. _______________ I think this is newsworthy enough to be its own thread. A loss of Vmart for anytime period is pretty big. As Shelton pointed out in the offseason thread, Cespedes becomes that much more important. That being said, how long could we expect him out? This is a bummer.

  17. FanGraph's Dave Cameron crunched some numbers, and estimates that Scherzer's new contract—$210 million spread out over 14 years—is about as valuable as a seven-year, $170 million contract when adjusted for inflation.
  18. Won't see Max pitch in person for at least a couple of years. Her do not play them in 2015, unless a couple playoff rounds later
