    Boesch

Does anyone know where Boesch is? I don't even see him in the dugout. Not that I want him to play...I don't... just curious. Sandlot
  2. Scotty Bowman was a master at that. How many cups did he win?
  3. My first choice was... Tommy Brookens. I have since changed my mind. I'm afraid being around Leyland these last few years he would pick up some of Leylands traits. Like the all or nothing 3 run homer. Or his famous "he may run into one". My opinion is.... after Leyland's gone they should clean house and bring in someone from the outside. I'd like to think we could bring someone in who actually knows what a hit and run is, getting players to bunt more, try to get the guys to move runners along. Yes I know, you have to have the players to do that. But wouldn't be nice to even try in once in a while? But my main complaint is there seems to be no urgency with some of these guys. They look like robots just going through the motions and show zero emotion. I think the manager has a lot to do with that. Just my opinion
  4. Just wondering....who will it be?
  5. Can someone tell Jeremy to smile once in a while. This guy with his skinhead, kind-of-like a NEO...something.....just does not smile.... ever....and never seems to be happy. He's only 23 for cripes sake! I watch him pitch and it seems like agony every time he goes out there.... Jeremy,..... camping, pickup trucks, fishing & hunting are all great...but please... give us something more when it comes to pitching. Geezzzz...Relax...and smile once in a while.

    Maroth

It's not the typo, (geez, I can't spell worth a darn) "It's the reply". I was simply brushed off. "Go look it up yourself"....dumbell That's how I took it. There is a CLIQUE on this forum that is quite tight. Has been for quite a few years. No outsiders welcome if they have a different point of view. Just like I said 3 years ago about the fences being moved in at Comerica. I was chastized. Guess what......

I don't have a short fuse. I didn't understand the reply. I asked a question and was referred to the MLB site. What kind of reply is "If you go to the stats pace it'll tell you right there" I expected more from the so-called experts on this site.

"If you go to the stats pace it'll tell you right there" I've just remembered why I don't want to be a part of this forum.

No offence Yoda, but what is "stats pace" Sandlot

    Maroth

Thanks guys....Just curious though How many innings do you have to pitch before you are eligible to be among the top pitchers acording to MLB? I'm sure there is some stat that verifies this. Sandlot

    Maroth

Just for fun I checked out the MLB site today to see where the Tigers are compared to other teams. Took a look at the ERA leaders. Low and behold, Mike Maroth, 3-0 - ERA .049 is not listed. Ok, we no that wont last, but still, shouldn't he be listed? Opps, he's given up 3 runs today so far. Are the Tigers that far down on the MLB site that they don't recognize this? Sandlot
  12. Are there any more spring training games on TV?

    Ty Cobb

Just curious about this.... from.... Rod Vample...AP "A plaque in honor of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb was removed from old Tiger Stadium and relocated to Comerica Park". ... Why was it still there? Why...after 5 years has it not moved? Just wondering...?

    Higginson

Higginson What the heck happened to this guy? All I see is a player with about 5 packs of (Double Bubble) gum in his mouth. In fact, it's distracting watching him in the batters box.....chomp, chomp, chomp. He seems more concerned about his gum and batting stance than hitting. How in the heck can this guy concentrate when his jaw is moving faster than his brain. He looks like a coiled spring ready to jump about 10 feet high in the batters box on every pitch, as do most of the hitters. Don't laugh, reminds me of Denny McClain years ago who would drink 15, 20 Pepsi's a day. We all know what happened to him. Oh yeah... back to Higgy, once in a while he gets a hit or walks...big deal. .240 BA, a couple of home runs, and what, 15 or so RBI's... come-on... in a half of season? Why don't they just dump him like Easley, Clark.... get over it and move on. Has anybody ever questioned the hitting coach or is this a taboo? What is the ( team average) about, .225 or so. I'd surely want to know what the heck the hitting coach is doing?
  15. A bit late here, but what is your definition of a a toque? No offence, but I have been selling Detroit Tigers & sports apparel for 5 years and have never heard of a toque. toque \Toque\ (t[=o]k), n. [F. toque; of Celtic origin; cf. W. toc.] 1. A kind of cap worn in the 16th century, and copied in modern fashions; -- called also toquet. His velvet toque stuck as airily as ever upon the side of his head. --Motley. 2. (Zo["o]l.) A variety of the bonnet monkey. 3. A covering for the head, worn by women, usually protecting more or less the back and sides of the head, but no part of the forehead. The shape of the bonnet varies greatly at different times; formerly the front part projected, and spread outward, like the mouth of a funnel. AS far as I know the item you described is a knit hat, a watch hat or baret. Toque, sounds a little like a baret. Of course you could wear a standard baseball cap backwards, and tilted to one side and call it a toque.
  16. MotownMandi Your just an ornery/person. This was said before the ignorance comment:
  17. Dickerson will be very good. Price will be.........Price? Eli will suprise us. I like all three. All are Pros and besides, what difference does it make anyway. Com'on now, how many of you really listen to games on the radio anyway. I rarely do.
  18. Just as I predicted. Thank you TIGERS Now fix the rest of it.

    Comerica

Comerica ParK OK,..I got hammered on this a couple weeks ago. But I'm not done!! I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. The fences are going to be brought in........period, done deal, maybe, whatever. That's beside the point for now. OK....... I made some statements, "bring the fences in, what difference does it make, the Tigers have not won for ten years". "I don't like Comerica Park", and so on. You guys hammered me on this and basically you said "it's the players, not the park". Randy Smith, McHale, Mike Illitch and so on are to blame". After reading all the reasons you submitted, I agree! It was not Comerica Park that contributed to the Tigers dilema........How's that? I was wrong. It's not the park!! NOW...........Please explain to me how Comerica Park has benefited the Tigers? The are still losers after 3 years there. The rules are: you cannot blame Randy Smith...Buddy Bell...Phil Garner....Mike Illitch or John MaHale anymore. You already did that the last time. How has Comerica made the Tigers a better team? Luxury boxes? The wider concourses'? More restrooms? Ferris Wheel? Cheesie Waterfall? Ugly ivy in center field? Pepsi Porch? Maybe it's McDonalds..... about 900 feet away in center field... or is it the.... Easier access to overpriced beer, overpriced food. Right by the Ferris Wheel is a stand ("hamburger, potato chips and pickle $8.95")... Comon' now, it's been 3 years and attendance is dwindling. Comerica Park is not even in the top 10 of major league parks to visit. In fact it's not even mentioned in major league parks to visit! Can you believe people would rather go to Fenway Park (1912), Wrigley Field (1914), Yankee Stadium(1923), Dodger Stadium, Jacobs Field, Camden Yards.. before they go to Comerica park. Don't believe me! Try these links. http://americasbestonline.com/BASEBALL.HTM http://www.rateitall.com/Topic.asp?I=44C7C47B-165B-4898-8249-5DA67E16C2D3 http://espn.go.com/page2/s/list/ballparks/010427.html Hard to believe........isn't it There is no intamacy, nostalgia in Comerica Park. They brought over the flag pole from Tiger stadium. That's it! Finally went to a game in August. We sat behind home plate, 13 rows up, between the dugout and the screen, paid $60.00 per seat. Between parking, seats, food and a couple of beers spent nearly $200.00 for the game. That is nonsense. The only reason I did was, it was Ernie Harwell day. Never again. Should have made the Pepsi porch in right field at Comerica like Tiger stadium with an overhang near the field instead of 500/600 feet away. Took a walk in the upper deck in the right field corner and the players looked like ants on the field. Some parts of the stands are to level and you have to stand to see the play on the field if someone in front of you stands up. The scoreboard is overpowering and distracts you from the play on the field. Not many players have anything nice to say about the stadium especially the dimensions. Not publically, anyway. You've read the innuendos. That should be an insult to the architects, John McHale and Mike Illitch. Especially Illitch. You guys can have Comerica. I'll stay home and watch them on TV Hey, I'm still a Tiger fan! Good news though, you probably won't hear from me for quite a while. Decided I'm spending toooo much time on forums and need a break. Take care
  20. smr-nj, ladies Speaking of STATS Now that we have elected a LADY Governor in Michigan (for the first time in history) do you think it will effect our Tigers? My wife and I were discussing this late last night. One particular area she's concerned about is the, scratch, adjust, and spit behavior of the players. My wife who has been observing this for quite some time now and seems to have a pretty good handle on this, suggests, "the more adjusts at the plate the better chance he has of getting a hit". Hence, better stats! I asked her about the other two, "scratch & spit"and what effect they had on the players stats. She said she has been too busy gathering stats on "adjusts", but will do a "scratch & spit" study next season. I tried to explain to her why they do that. That the behavior was normal and all players do it. I fact, I wasn't really wasn't aware of this behavior and the effect it had on a players BA, stats until she pointed it out to me a few years ago. She's not buying my explaination. I certainly wouldn't want our new LADY Governor to ban this practice with some type of legislation or something if it hurts our Tigers. We need all the help we can get right now. Anyway, she seems to have a pretty good handle on this and is looking for another women's point of view. What's your take on this smr, ladies on this forum. Is my wife right about this and should it continue?
  21. Folly I guess from yours and other comments so far we should all accept the fact the BASHING is perfectly acceptable. Whether it be personal, sports teams or the corner grocer. Sorry, I don't see it that way. On the other hand....This is America! Freedom of speach. I won't argue with that one bit. Oh, one more thing. My life did change somewhat after the Wings won. I sold a lot more Red Wings merchandise and still am because they won.
  22. Surly you jest. Which game or team are you talking about? Can't be the Packers at Lambeau field? Just a little tidbit from the Official Packers web site. "Did You Know"? "Packers fans have packed Lambeau Field to capacity for the last 30 years. Sold out on a season-ticket basis since 1960, Lambeau Field is one of the toughest places for visiting teams to play because of the incredible fan support received from Packers fans". Anyway, just thought it would be fun to play a Super Bowl in snow since 34 of 36 Super Bowls have been played in the south or warmer climates in the west and southwest.
  23. I personally would like to see a Super Bowl played in Green Bay in January. Awesome. The place would be packed. The weather factor would be the same for both teams, lousy. Half the state of Wisconsin would show up. I think people would go regardless of the weather. I don't think it will ever happen though. Too much money involved and to risky. The golden rule: "He who has the gold, rules" AKA.. NFL, team owners, television sponsers. One other thing. Why should the warm weather states get all the money generated from these game. Spread it around a little more.
  24. If you haven't already. Read this article about banning aluminum bats in high school! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/baseball/2002-10-31-batban_x.htm
