  1. "Ruth" was also in The Americans as Phillip's underage "friend", which was also a very different role from Ozark.
  2. Getting caught up on some movies with no live Tigers baseball to watch. Went with Ford v Ferrari on Monday and Parasite last night. I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy Parasite, not because of the subtitles but because of all the acclaim it received. Well IMO all of that acclaim was deserved. I knew the basic framework of the story, but that was it so there were still plenty of surprises for me. Really well done! Strangely, I'm a bit of a sucker for car/racing movies even though I do not enjoy watching actual racing at all. Really enjoyed Ford v Ferrari too, though the accents used by Damon and Bale took some time for me to adjust to.
  3. The Wire may suffer a bit from all the praise it gets, so expectations can get out of whack. I watched it during it's run and a couple of times since. I love it. The fourth season where they focused on the schools was fantastic.
  4. I'm far from an anti-vaxxer (I get a flu shot every year), but I will certainly be skeptical of any quickly developed vaccine.
  5. I was stuck on 'masks' as one of the words, thinking some shoddy masks were being advertised that wouldn't protect against virus transmission.
  6. Multi-Level Marketing!! Took me all day to figure it out. LOL! Guess I shouldn't have poked fun at Casimir yesterday for his lack of acronym knowledge.
  7. For the record, Trump's official stance here is to negotiate with terrorists.
  8. VP = Vice President You're welcome!
  9. XM has extended the free streaming through the app for non-subscribers through the end of May. Also, Prince radio will be back on May 1. I'm already a subscriber, but I am excited to have Prince radio back. Hopefully it leads to becoming permanent. He has the catalog to support it, especially compared to some of the others with their own stations.
  10. Me neither. I still get the "status not available" message.
  11. Actually just saw that Amazing Race is coming back on May 20, so not much longer to wait after all. Yay!
  12. I don't think I could name two previous Fiona Apple songs, but I am really enjoying her new album, Fetch The Bolt Cutters. It came out today, and I've listened to it through a couple of times already while working from home.
  13. DeWine is saying now that he wants to begin the "reopen" process on May 1, noting that it will NOT be a mass re-open and we are not simply going back "to how things used to be". Notably, in my opinion, he stopped short of requiring masks in public. Merely "strongly encouraged".
  14. I believe there is a season of Amazing Race sitting on the shelf. They were in the middle of filming the next one, when production halted. TAR is a family favorite, so I wish it would get announced soon. There aren't many shows the whole family agrees with, so it would be great to have it back soon. I wonder though if it's being held back to be shown in the fall, when the halted season was scheduled for. I'm guessing the fall/winter shows get better ratings than the spring ones.
  15. The stimulus payment status site is active on irs.gov. I checked mine out of curiosity and got "According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time." I'm not really sure how that's possible, but at least I'm not in dire need of it. I just hope it gets direct deposited, so I don't have to cash a check with his name on it... LOL!
  16. I watched the first episode, but the rest have built up on my DVR. Need to get back to it.
  17. Electric, for two reasons. One, it was cheaper. Since it was my first smoker, I didn't want to put a bunch of money into it while I was figuring it out. Second, it's a little easier to use and control the temp. Again, since it is my first one, I wanted it to be as simple as possible so I would be less likely to screw it up. Being able to set and rely on the temp was important to me. The thing with electric though is that you have to keep "feeding" it wood chips every hour/90 minutes. It's easy and you don't have to open it to do so, but you have to be around all the time to do it. With a pellet grill, my understanding is that you don't have to do that, and you can let it run for 14 hours or so (which is how long my pulled pork took) without having to do anything at all. I can see my next one being a pellet, but right now I am very happy with my electric. So far I have made pork shoulder (pulled pork - 14 hours), wings twice (two hours) and ribs once (6 hours total). I want to do a brisket soon, and already have another shoulder in the freezer for next week. Everything came out great, and has been really easy. The ribs were a multi-step process, but the others were simply "apply a rub, put them in, and take them out when they reach temp".
  18. Hey now, remember that I love it! I was just trying to acknowledge that Brooks has better movies, and that I am a little biased because it came out at just the right time for me.
  19. Well, I watched Spaceballs last night with my 14 yr old, and it was just as good as it's ever been! "What's the matter Colonel Sanders? Chicken???" "I knew it... I'm surrounded by a$$holes." "What the **** am I looking at? When does this happen in the movie?" I know, I know, it's not a great movie, especially by Mel Brooks standards. I have a real soft spot for it though. My son has the same sense of humor I do, so he really enjoyed it too even though some of the references we lost on him (Alien, Planet of the Apes).
  20. I don't see how anyone can watch a Dewine/Acton daily press conference and decide that you need to go to the Ohio Statehouse and protest. And yet, today there they were. Am I allowed to hope they all get it (and recover)? Because I kinda do.
  21. I'm just surprised it's not one of the OAN "reporters".
  22. I just watched Jack Morris through a 130+ pitch complete game in Game 1 of 84 World Series. When he had 95 pitches in the 6th, I thought "I was sure he threw a complete game here, but maybe not...". LOL! The crazy thing is that he throws another one in the Series! Loving today on MLB Network! All Tigers, all day long!
  23. We did a driveway visit with my parents yesterday, and I thought this through as much as I could. We took our own drinks, etc, and we even brought our cornhole boards. Rather than have my parents at one end, and my kids and I at the other (and sharing bags), instead we played one game on two sets of boards (my parents throwing their turns on their boards/bags, and us using our boards/bags for our turns). It worked out great! We stayed for about 90 minutes. Played, talked, etc and never got within 15 feet of each other or touched any items the others were touching. It can be done, but you have be thoughtful and diligent about it.
