  1. Ex Seawolve Brian Rogers was promoted to AAA Indianapolis today. Good Luck to Rodge.
  2. Minor League Baseball reports that Brian Rogers, Nate Bumstead, and Kody Kirkland have been named All-Stars to replace Tony Giarattano (hurt knee), Bobby Jones (DL), and Kurt Airso (Hurt Shoulder) for the Eastern League All-Star Game next Wednesday.
  3. Erie wins4-3, Bumstead pitches 7 for the Win. Brian Rogers came in the 7th with 2 runners on and no outs and pitched out of it and then pitched a scoreless 8th. Ennis closed it out in the 9th. Melian hits 3 run homer that turned out to be th egame winner.
  4. Juan Francia-batting .140, 20 hits in 145 AB, not to mention the numerous base running mistakes he has made. Last night he ran through Duffy Dyer's stop sign to get thrown out at home. Last week he made a crucial out with a baserunning mistake to kill a rally. Also last week he watched a pop-up drop in between him and the firstbaseman. Anybody at Lakeland ready to come up???
  5. I originally posted this as a reply under the Jair Jurgens post, but it probably deserves it's own post. The Minor League All-Star Games are near and if the Tigers are indeed holding off on promotions til after the all star games, and with the Oneonta Tigers season about to begin, who gets promoted, who gets demoted,, and who gets the boot for all classifications? or should I say, who deserves to get promoted, demoted, and axed?

The All-Star Games are near and if the Tigers are indeed holding off on promotions til after the all star break, and with the Oneonta Tigers season about to begin, who gets promoted, who gets demoted,, and who gets the boot for all classifications? or should I say, who deserves to get promoted, demoted, and axed?
  7. Why do you dislike Time Warner, the owners of the Braves? Time Warner is currently "shopping" the Braves and they should have new ownership next year, but I do not understand why the dislike for Time Warner, unless it is the fact that they have been reducing the Braves payroll the last few years.
  8. Jurrjens is listed on the Erie Seawolves roster.
  9. Kevin retired after last season. He wanted to retire during the season last year but the coaches talked him into staying. He subsequently retired when the season ended and did not report to spring training.
  10. Bobby Jones pitched another great game. Rogers relieved Jones in the eighth with a 2 run lead. Rogers struck out the first 2 batters and then the defense had a mental lapse. A pop-up was allowed to drop. 3 Seawolves convened on the pop-up only to let it drop in front of them, the ol' "I got it, you take it" routine. It goes as a hit in the scorebook but was actually a mental error. The next batter, Lind, hits his second HR of the game to tie it. Rogers then strikes out the next batter for 3 K's in the inning. It's a shame that Jones does not get the win, it's a shame that the dropped pop-up will be charged as an earned run to Rogers, and it's a shame that we have a lead-off batter batting .143 (Francia). Francia was also one of the fielders that allowed the pop-up to drop and also ended the previous inning by making a baserunning mistake.
  11. Brian Rogers: Last years numbers at Lakeland combined with this years numbers at Erie: Games-60, IP-83, H-59, ER-17, BB-17, K-87, ERA-1.84
  12. Brian Rogers throws a fastball (89-92) with good movement. His best pitch is his slider and has developed a nice change-up since joining the Tigers. He has always had excellent control as witnessed by his K/BB ratio in Oneonta, West Michigan, and Lakeland. Either his velocity was up or he was getting good movement on his fastball last night as listening to the game, several of the Curve players he struck-out were swinging and missing at fastballs. The move to the bullpen last year at Lakeland seems to have been a good move for Brian.
  13. Other Minor League Pitchers that could be sleepers: Andrew Kown Brian Rogers
  14. Lakeland had an awesome team last year and I envision almost everyone making the jump to Erie. Who do you think will be the biggest surprise for Erie in 06? I realize that Tata, Sanchez, and de la Cruz are on the radar, but who is not on the radarscreen and surprises us in Erie this year?
  15. Rogers throws in the high 80's, occassionally hitting 91-92. Has great movement on fastball and a nasty slider. Excellent control. Cape Cod Pitcher of the Year in 02. McKinney a big kid with lot's of power. Ball jumps off his bat. Nicholson a career minor leaguer. May already be gone.
