  1. I am afraid that ad was pretty on target about a lot of my friends--and me-- at the time and we knew it. They nailed us. It was much better than the preachy fried egg ad. That ad became a joke. This one made you think.
  2. I've read numerous people on this board stating that Beltran is known to have said he would not sign with the Yankees. Is this true or just wishful thinking?
  3. Cheers to those games! 0-0 one hitters should thrill everyone but only real baseball fans can see it. Wish I could have watched both att the same time.
  4. 6 innings, 111 pitches, 7 hits 4 earned runs, 5 walks 6 KOs. Heck, Knotts could do that for them...
  5. Kent's three-run homer ends it! Astros win. I'd still rather see the Cardinals. The further the Astros go on the better Beltran looks and the worse our pitiful hopes of getting him appear to be..
  6. Do you remember that great anti-pot ad years ago with to the two guys in their 30s smoking pot in one of their mother's homes? I suppose you don't...
  7. Beltran singles!! One on no out. Hey, I'm for the Cardinals. What am I saying...
  8. Beltran's leading off in the bottom of the 9th...
  9. Both starters pitched one-hitters..
  10. Ortiz singles! Big Papi rules!! Red Sox win!! Holy cow!!! :classic:
  11. I think he has a brace and will pitch tomorrow night if there's a game.
  12. I'm glad I'm at home. In Fenway beer sales is closed down. Going into the bottom of the 14th.
  13. They didn't apologize for Jeter getting an undeserved tag out on Ortiz's stolen base. They shrugged it off.
  14. I'm not surrpised to see my Boise State Broncos rated this high, but since they have barely won their last several games against relatively weak opponents I'd bet against them when they play Fresno State at home on ESPN2 this week.

  16. The Tigers had three times as many significant comebacks in 2004 compared to 2003 (9-3). I define a significant comeback as being down by at least three runs then winning. In 2003 the Tigers didn’t have a significant comeback win until August 12th. The first one in 2004 occurred on April 7th during the first series of the year and the second one came the next day. No wonder we got excited. We had more significant collapses in 2004 as well. I define a significant collapse as losing a ballgame after holding a three-run lead. In 2003 we lost after having a three-run lead 10 times and 13 times this year. We had fewer three-run leads to protect in 2003, and our improved offense gave the 2004 pitching staff more opportunities to fail. 2003 wins after at least a three-run deficit August-12 TEX down 3-0 in 4th won 7-4 August-24 ANA down 5-2 in 2nd won 10-9 in 10th September-27 MIN down 8-0 in 5th won 9-8 in 9th 2004 wins after at least a three-run deficit April-7 TOR down 3-0 in 1st won 6-3 April-8 MIN down 3-0 in 2nd won 10-6 May-7 TEX down 4-0 in 2nd won 8-7 June-10 ATL down 3-0 in 1st won 7-4 June-26 ARZ down 5-2 in 5th won 7-6 June-25 ARZ down 5-2 in 6th won 9-5 June-30 CLE down 3-0 in 3rd won 12-5 August-21 SEA down 6-3 in 4th won 11-10 in 11th September-17 CHI down 5-1 in 5th won 11-10 in 10th 2003 losses after at least a three-run lead April-18 Led KC 3-0 in 4th lost 4-3 in 11th May-1 Led BAL 3-0 in 7th lost 6-4 May-19 Led CLE 6-0 in 3rd lost 10-9 June-8 Led SF 6-2 in 3rdlost 7-6 June-21 Led COL 3-0 in 4th lost 9-6 July-4 Led KC 3-0 in 1st lost 9-8 August-9 Led MIN 4-0 in 3rd lost 8-4 in 10th August-16 Led ANA 5-0 in 3rd lost 11-7 August-23 Led ANA 5-0 in 6th lost 14-8 in 10th September-5 Led TOR 5-2 in 3rd lost 8-6 2004 losses after at least a three-run lead April-13 Led TOR 5-1 in 2nd lost 7-5 May-3 Led ANA 6-2 in lost 11-9 May-8 Led TEX 14-4 in 5th lost 16-15 June-1 Led KC 3-0 in 6th, lost 5-3 July-2 Led COL 6-3 in 7th lost 9-8 July-4 Led COL 8-0 in 5th lost 10-8 July-24 Led CHI 5-1 in 6th lost 7-6 in 9th 8-8 BOS 6-3 in 3rd lost 11-9 8-24 CHI 4-1 in 3rd lost 9-5 8-31 KC 7-4 in 4th lost 9-8 in 9th 9-18 CHI 8-4 in 10th lost 9-8 in 12th 9-21 CLE 7-2 in 5th lost 8-7 in 9th 9-22 CLE 3-0 in 3rd lost 7-6
  17. 10-17-2004 TULSA, Okla. — Senior kicker Tyler Jones drilled a 46-yard field goal with 3 seconds left Saturday night to give the No. 21 Broncos a 45-42 victory over Tulsa in a thriller at Skelly Stadium. BSU extended its Division I-A-best winning streaks to 17 overall and 21 in WAC games. The Broncos are 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the WAC, tied for first place with Louisiana Tech. And for the fifth straight game, they won with a comeback. (These guys keep finding a way to win even when they deserve to lose. Teams half as good on paper are so close to beating us that I wouldn't be surprised if Fresno State beats us at home on ESPN next week to end the win streak. Still, they seem to have a knack for pulling it out in the end...) 09/04/2004 Boise State Broncos 65---Idaho Vandals 7 09/10/2004 Boise State Broncos 53---Oregon State Beavers 34 09/18/2004 Boise State Broncos 47---UTEP Miners 31 09/24/2004 Boise State Broncos 28---BYU 27 10/02/2004 Boise State Broncos 38---SMU Mustangs 20 10/16/2004 Boise State Broncos 45--- Tulsa Golden Hurricane 42 10/23/2004 6:05 p.m. (MT) Fresno State Bulldogs at Boise State Broncos Boise, ID 10/29/2004 6:05 p.m. (MT) Hawai'i Warriors at Boise State Broncos Boise, ID 11/13/2004 2:00 p.m. (PT) Boise State Broncos at San Jose State Spartans San Jose, CA 11/20/2004 1:05 p.m. (MT) Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Boise State Broncos Boise, ID 11/27/2004 1:05 p.m. (PT) Boise State Broncos at Nevada Wolf Pack Reno, NV
  18. This seems logically impossible, but so is never winning a World Series since 1912.
  19. Children screaming under the stairways! Boys sobbing in armies! Old men weeping in the parks! Moloch! Moloch! Nightmare of Moloch! Moloch the loveless! Mental Moloch! Moloch the heavy judger of men! --Allen Ginsberg--
  20. Moloch wins 19-8... Why even go through a whole effin' season for this?
  21. Nixon doubles off the center field wall--better bring in Rivera..
