  1. Jeez why not just take a hammer to the kid's kneecap? Getting the Tiger's closer job the last couple of years has been like reporting for duty on the Starship Enterprise and being told, "Welcome aboard, kid. You've been assigned to security. Here's your red shirt."
  2. More than one writer has accused Pudge of being a problem this year.
  3. He could be an snake-worshipping headhunter for all I care. He's still a crappy play by play announcer.
  4. He was terrible because he was injured. If the injury is truly healed this time I wouldn't mind seeing him return. I don't see it happening, though.
  5. Even if he can't pitch again in the spring I'd love to see the Tigers figure out a way to keep him around the team.
  6. I'm having a vision of Lucy with the "Psychiatric Advice 5¢" sign.
  7. Does Jeremy go to a battered pitcher's shelter now?
  8. The pitcher is the one who throws the ball. That gives him the final say by default.
  9. Nope, no kidding. Pitchers check off catchers all the time.
  10. The pitcher is always free to check off the catcher if they're not happy with what's being called. They are the final decision-makers about what gets thrown, not the catcher.
  11. If I understand you correctly you're trying to say that Caputo has more integrity because he was willing to write something the organization didn't like? Maybe, maybe not, but what does that have to do with this article? It was an op-ed piece analysing a trade, not factual journalism.
  12. Maybe you're right, but since this team doesn't generate very many save opportunities in the first place I can't really see the loss of any closer having much effect on their record.
  13. I don't understand why so many people think that keeping Farnsworth was some sort of recipe for success. They had him and they were still 4 games below .500 at the time of the deal.
  14. His agent made it pretty clear that he wasn't going to sign a contract extension this season, which is what DD was referring to. I didn't see him making Farnsworth out to be anything. He was just explaining his reasoning. Based on Farnsworth's comments when he got to Atlanta I don't think he had a problem with anything anyone in the organization said.
  15. How many wins do you think Farnsworth represented for the remainder of the year?
