Obama Campaign called repulsive by left-wing Guardian editorial
This swiftboating of Mitt Romney disgraces Barack Obama | Bob Garfield | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk
Obscene and depraved are other words used by the author."I remember the night they came for my father and mother. It was in the days when grain was plentiful ... we had eaten a simple meal of barley gruel on the porch. The car drove away into the night. I never saw them again ... ever again."

I think the whole campaign advertising thing has to run its course like the Iraqi or Lebanese civil wars did - the lying, cheating, distortion et al are just going to continue to swill downward until both sides are completely exhausted enough of the killing (i.e. character assassination) and those few left standing on the battlefield finally agree on some kind of truce (i.e. - actual campaign reform). Until then Katy-bar-the-door- neither side will be putting any gloves back on. Probably will have to escalate for at least a couple more cycles though before Scalia and his fellow mullahs come around to lifting the fatwa against reform.

people with money can influence elections. They can also buy property and get traffic tickets fixed. Some can even get away with murder.

But we at least have the right to try to prosecute a rich body murderer - which is far more than we have in the case of the rich political murderer.
Politics in America is now war, and you of all people would know that in battle, Americans have always been utterly ruthless warriors.Last edited by Gehringer_2; 08-15-2012 at 09:31 AM.

You can debate about which side is worse than the other, but nobody's hands are clean. That's the way it is at this point in history.
Knowing that, you just have to discount all that's being said and vote your conscience, or not vote at all.
By the way, Bob Garfield is an ad industry columnist and host of NPR's On The Media. If you like news-based podcasts, give it a try.But tonight, I say we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

The ad is a lie and should be criticized.
The criticism of the ad is interesting because: employer fires employee, employee loses healthcare coverage, employee suffers consequences from having lost healthcare coverage, is there something wrong with that per se? I thought that was Freedom?

Solid.HANNITY: All right. Let me ask about Newt Gingrich. And I also interviewed Newt on radio today. He is calling on you to tell these outside groups, one I guess is run by a former staffer of yours to stop running the ads against him. And not run a negative campaign. What is your reaction to him about some of the ads that are being run by those groups?
. . .
ROMNEY: So, he only wants one against him to be stopped. I mean, obviously, the Speaker doesn't want to have that. I understand. But look, this is a campaign. We've got to have broad shoulders. You can't spend your time whining about the fact that people are drawing attention to your record in the past. I’ve been attacked. It's fine. Get used to it. It is going to get a lot of worse. If you can't stand this…
HANNITY: He said he’s been ‘Romney boated.’

Romney won the Republican primary by dumping almost solely negative ads on his contenders. Nearly 100% negative. And now the man who's been coddled by privilege all his life can't take the heat.

In all honesty, I haven't liked the tone of the campaign either... but that has been true for many campaigns for at least the past 20 years.
I would prefer a campaign in which Obama was selling himself rather than panning his opponent, but know it's not going to happen.
It is funny, though, that Romney thought negative ads were 'just part of a campaign' as long as he was airing them. This spot, and a place in my heart, is reserved for TC.

I am not going to be surprised to see the beginning of some "come to Jesus" moments among the serious intellectuals in GOP, when they discover just how bad things are going to get and just how real the corruption of the process that they dismissed as not a problem is going to be.
and the Right is deluding themselves if they think they can gain any quarter from the Left by trying to shame them. Not with what is going on in PA and OH. SCOTUS has let slip the dogs of war and the future is not going to be pretty.“but the biggest mistake you can make is to follow your ideas to their logical conclusions.
