Obama adviser: Jobless rate is really 8.254%

    Happy days are here again!

Glad to know 40 months of unmitigated economic progress are continuing with golden prosperity for all citizens.
"I remember the night they came for my father and mother. It was in the days when grain was plentiful ... we had eaten a simple meal of barley gruel on the porch. The car drove away into the night. I never saw them again ... ever again."

if the same number of people were in the workforce today as when Obama took office the u3 would be approaching 11%. The only reason unemployment is dropping is because people are dropping out of the labor force and not actually finding jobs.

Eventually the BLS will realize that they can wipe out the unemployment problem with birth/death and seasonality adjustments. Full employment, anyone?

It's been calculated the same way for over 30 years. Quit advocating to change it just to make Obama look worse

It was a travesty from the time it was changed until 1992, then again from 2000-2008. Just yawners when it's pfife's guy.

nah you won't find me arguing for it to be calculated differently in order to make things worse for a republican president. There are 3+ years of my posts when y'alls boy (holla!) was president, have at it.

Here is the difference, and feel free to throw a ton of blame at Bush for what i'm about to say, you won't hear me complain, but the difference is that in the recent past, you never saw economic times like this. As a result, through your normal "every 10 year" recessions, you saw the same thing in the numbers. Now, as Obama loves to remind us all (which he has a right too) economically we're at times our living generations haven't seen (couple of real oldies disagree, but i'm talking about the whole lot of us). I understand giving someone a little more rope when you think they are going in the right direction, both sides do that, but to simply look at the jobless rate now and compare it to a jobless rate from before seems ridiculous to me.

I think my side has the right to question the stimulus as well, as while I know you can prove it helped (a trillion dollars pumped into anything will help in the short term) it certainly didn't live up to the numbers (including jobless rate) that we were told it would.

Well, I'm sure that the president's wholesale temporary work visas for illegal immigrants will help those unemployment numbers.
