This isn't the first: If Obama where White picture that I've seen. But this one struck me as odd. This 'white' Obama doesn't look nearly as old (maybe it's the non-grey hair?) nor does he look nearly as respectable or dignified. I get a 'user car salesman' vibe looking at this picture.

Romney Aide: ‘Biased’ Tax Study Ignores The Coming Romney Boom | TPM2012
Mitt Romney’s policy director Lanhee Chen claims that a new study showing 95% of Americans would see a tax hike under Romney’s tax reform plan is “biased” and fails to take into account the explosion of economic growth that will occur under Romney’s administration.
“This is just another biased study from a former Obama staffer that ignores critical parts of Governor Romney’s tax reform program, which will help the middle class and promote faster economic growth,” Chen wrote in a statement Monday evening in response to the study by the Tax Policy Center released earlier in the day.
“The study analyzes only half of Governor Romney’s tax program, ignoring the reforms that would make America’s corporations more competitive by moving from the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world to one that is comparable to our trading partners. And the study ignores the positive benefits to economic growth from both the corporate tax plan and the deficit reduction called for in the Romney plan. These glaring gaps invalidate the report’s conclusions.”When our weapons are more precious than our children, our society is broken

GOP lawmakers equate birth-control mandate with Pearl Harbor, 9/11 - The Hill's Healthwatch
epicHouse Republicans called the Obama administration's birth-control mandate "religious bigotry" and compared it to the events of Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11, 2001.
The heated remarks came at a press conference marking the mandate's first day.
"I know in your mind you can think of the times America was attacked," said Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), a freshman.
"One is December 7 — that is Pearl Harbor Day. Another was September 11 — that was the day of the terrorist attack.
"I want you to remember August 1, 2012 — the attack on our religious freedom. That is a date that will live in infamy, along with those other dates."When our weapons are more precious than our children, our society is broken

Speaker Boehner: Obama has 'never even had a real job, for God's sake' - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room
Here is an old copy of Obama's CVHouse Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) lashed out at President Obama during an interview Tuesday, saying the president has "never even had a real job, for God's sake."
Barack Obama, C.V.
He worked in finance and law - private sector - amongst other jobs, before moving into politics. Who is John Boehner to describe the jobs held by millions of Americans as not-real (whatever that would mean)? *******

I doubt 'senior lecturer' was much like your mom's experience. Obviously Boehner is dumb and misspoke, but I would guess that most people posting on this forum despite being in our 20s and not President of the United States have a longer and more distinguished career in the private sector than Obama.
Of course, the argument would really be whether that's worth anything at all in a President. I don't like Obama, but I'm not sure that it means much. Romney worked at Bain, cool, that's sure helping him out in the election so far.Kobernoooooous

Obama fights ban on indefinite detention of Americans — RT
Manhattan federal court Judge Katherine Forrest ruled in May that the indefinite detention provisions signed into law late last year by US President Barack Obama failed to “pass constitutional muster” and ordered a temporary injunction to keep the military from locking up any person, American or other, over allegations of terrorist ties. On Monday, however, federal prosecutors representing President Obama and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta filed a claim with the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in hopes of eliminating that ban.
The plaintiffs "cannot point to a single example of the military's detaining anyone for engaging in conduct even remotely similar to the type of expressive activities they allege could lead to detention," Obama’s attorneys insist. With that, the White House is arguing that as long as the indefinite detention law hasn’t be enforced yet, there is no reason for a judge to invalidate it.
Reuters reports this week that the government believes they are justified to have the authorization to lock alleged belligerents up indefinitely because cases involving militants directly aligned against the good of the US government warrants such punishment. Separate from Judge Forrest’s injunction, nine states have attempted to, at least in part, remove themselves from the indefinite detention provisions of included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, or NDAA.VT

The "Kick a clown when he's down" tour continues on.
$1.3 billion in ‘clean energy’ subsidies produce 288 permanent jobs, quadruple
cost of electricity in Nevada
LAS VEGAS — As U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid prepares to host his fifth annual National Clean Energy Summit on Aug. 7, a Nevada Journal examination of Nevada’s renewable energy sector shows that over $1.3 billion in federal funds funneled into geothermal, solar and wind projects since 2009 has yielded and is projected to yield just 288 permanent, full-time jobs.
That’s an initial cost of over $4.6 million per job.
Despite this, Sen. Reid continues to hype Nevada as the “Saudi Arabia of renewable energy,” even though the renewable energy subsidized with federal dollars and mandated under Nevada’s Renewable Portfolio Standard costs consumers and NV Energy, Nevada’s publicly regulated utility company, up to four times as much as fossil fuels, such as natural gas.
Even with these government-granted advantages, the few clean-energy jobs in the state of Nevada are still precarious.VT

Elizabeth Warren calls on Scott Brown to release more tax returns than she has - Political Intelligence - A national political and campaign blog from The Boston Globe - Boston.com
This woman is such an idiot.Elizabeth Warren demanded Monday that Senator Scott Brown release more of his tax returns. The only problem was that Brown, her Republican rival, had already released six years of tax returns while Warren has refused to release more than four years of her filings.
Asked to reconcile that apparent conflict, Warren backed off her demand, saying today that six years was enough. She did not, however, offer to release any more of her IRS filings.VT

Pretty interesting development in national polls. While Obama still has a small - but noticable - lead in the swing states, for the first time in a long time he is showing strength in national polls vs. Romney. While Rasmussen has Romney up four, the other four polls out the last two days include Gallup up two for Obama, Reuters up seven for Obama, CNN up seven for Obama, and FoxNews up nine for Obama. He is now over 73% chance of winning on FiveThirtyEight - his highest to date. While this is all fine and dandy, we are still three months from election day and a ton can change.

Man with Bible threatens to rape woman during ‘Gay Day’ in Michigan | The Raw Story
In a video posted to YouTube, several protesters with Bibles can be seen shouting at a woman celebrating in the inaugural “Gay Day” celebration, an event organized by the human rights group Tolerance, Equality and Awareness Movement (TEAM) to showcase the community’s diversity.
“Back in the day there was no free power, there was no going to the mall,” one protester tells the woman. “There was, ‘sit your *** in this house until I bring my *** home.’”
“And if your *** get to going out there like you said, guess what?” a second protester adds. “You get raped. And that’s what’s going to happen to you. … Keep your ***** clean, that’s all you need to do. Do you understand?”
After one man claims, “the Lord said that,” the woman challenges him to find the corresponding Bible verse.
He responds with Isaiah 13: “Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.”
“What does ‘ravished’ mean? It means, we going to rape your ***,” the protester explains. “And I’m going to have fun doing that ****. And you going to like that. I promise you.”
After briefly arguing that he is misinterpreting the Bible, the woman observes, “Anything I say, you say it doesn’t matter.”
“It’s going to matter right now,” the man shoots back. “It’s going to matter when your clothes off and I’m going inside of you repeatedly. That’s when it’s going to matter. Because you going to enjoy yourself.”
The woman in the video told WWMT that the men also recited her boyfriend’s license plate number and promised to find and kill him. She said she called 911, but the Grand Rapids Police Department officer told her that there was nothing he could do.

That's just fantastic. Is he going to use the Bible to assist with the rape? Maybe read some verses while committing the act?
There's way to many sick people in this world that hold up the Bible as a shield. If used improperly, that book makes the worst kind of people feel righteous.AAT: 2007 L. Oliveros | 2008-10 F. Martinez | 2011 H. Perez | 2012 E. Suarez | 2013 J. Kobernus

In the US I would say that it does matter to the degree that are millions of evangelical religionists out there making the claim that the US was founded as a "Christian" country and that *their* views of man, God, and the universe thus have a special political claim in this country. Their claim and their numbers do make what they say and do matter more *politically* than what comes out of a small minority like American Muslims
