    Default Early election talk

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys make of the next election? My main question is, who do you see emerging from the republican party to oppose Obama in the up coming election?

I'm hopeful for Tim Pawlenty. If McCain made the right call last time around by selecting him, we wouldn't know Barry.

The dream candidate doesn't exist yet. If I had my druthers...it would be a guy with auto industry roots (Romney would fit that bill) who had NEVER been a partner in a private equity firm (Romney out), who had some diplomatic/intelligence/national security credentials...(Petreus?)

I want a Northerner most of all...too many twangy Red State guys have carried the mantle lately on both sides.

How about Chip Ganassi? He created teams that went on to win the Triple Crown of motor racing, the Daytona 500, the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400 as well as the 2011 Grand Am 24 hour Daytona sports car race (1st and 2nd place).

I really wanted to post in the "Early election tal" thread. I've got nothing for this one.

Oh please NO. Having seen Mr Tim in action here in Minnesota over the last couple years, I would rank him a '10' on the 'empty suit' scale. Especially in the last budget cycle as Gov, he has really sold out his state's interests to try and 'set up' his presidential run.

Hopefully, any of his opponents will be able to do to him what they did to Romney in '08, which is nail him for trying to run away from everything he campaigned for as governor.

I'm not a conservative anymore, but I'd rather a 'conservative' that at least believed in conservatism.

Alan Mulally doesn't have the national security credentials...shame. Maybe he and Petreus could run as co-tribunes. Perhaps, like Cesar they could make the military into a profit-gaining enterprise through conquest in Gaul and Dacia.
