    Default Poor Kwame...

SLAM ONLINE | » EA Sports Party for All Star 2010

After the showdown, I took full advantage of the complimentary food and drinks and even designed my own commemorative All Star sneeks, which was a collabo between Adidas, EA and the NBA.

In between crab cake bites, I spied the most unlikely “invited” guest of the evening: embattled and recently ousted former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick. I thought dude was like MC Hammer broke. How’d he manage an All Star getaway?
He's obviously suffering since he can't afford to make his payments as ordered by the court. I guess he doesn't understand which court.

If Kym Worthy's office has any fortitude, he really will be broke soon.

Kwame and Monica were both silly to plead guilty.
As we are about to see in the Sam Riddle case, they would never get convicted in Detroit.

I'm guessing a former Mayor of Detroit is very very good at hiding money.

They are and have been doing all they can, he is getting some money from somewhere that is not showing up as his. He has someone writing checks for him, how else do you think he could afford all the lawyers he had. I am sure if you just looked at his account and money that is his, he is running out of money.

It's the judge who has to make a move now. The prosecutor has filed the motions. The judge must act on them.

If there is any justice, the entire family along with family friends [aka: conyers family] will all go down the tubes, the thieving a-holes.

I'm no Kwame apologist, & obviously he needs to pay back the money he stole, but there's a distinct possibility he got comp tix thru Compuware.

seems like the judge is doing what he can:

DETROIT (WXYZ) -Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner Wednesday modified Kwame Kilpatrick’s probation, ordering him to pay the city of Detroit more than $300,000 dollars over the next 90 days.

Groner pulled no punches as he delivered his ruling, calling Kilpatrick a “liar” and saying that he purposely concealed gifts and loans in an effort to reduce his monthly restitution payments to the city.

"You have not been credible in this courtroom and you, again, have not been honest to the city of Detroit," he said.

Groner ruled that Kilpatrick must pay $79,011 to the court within 30 days. Groner said the money would account for funds given to Carlita Kilpatrick, money the family received from the Kilpatrick Civic Fund and Kilpatrick's tax return.

In addition, Groner ruled that Kilpatrick must pay $240,000—the loan he received from several Detroit business luminaries—within 90 days.

He also transferred Kilpatrick’s probation back to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Kilpatrick will also be required to report by phone to his probation officer every Friday.

All travel will also have to be pre-approved.

Judge Groner ordered Kilpatrick to submit a complete and accurate account of his and his wife Carlita's finances on a monthly basis.
