He may not - I would bet he would but maybe not. I don't disagree that she had a lot of impact on the last cycle - but I think that was a special case and I don't think it went beyond fundraiser/booster stuff. That being said - she can be a big booster - in more ways than one.
Screwball was probably confused with CPAC. Limbaugh did give the keynote speech at that event earlier this year.
that's my impression too.

NP. But the "one of them" was a smaller, more insular group that hardly compares with Jesse Jackson's multiple speeches at the DNC (to be fair to Jackson, though, he does give a good speech).
If we're wondering just how the Democratic Party accepts Jesse Jackson, wouldn't a survey of his epic failures in Democratic Presidential Primaries pretty much seal the deal?

I don't think Oprah is nearly as impactful as Rush in the political arena.

Jesse Jackson doesn't represent the Democrat party anymore than Rush Limbaugh represents the Republican party. They are both self-serving talking heads.
With one exception - Rush admits he's self serving.

why is it "Democrat" party instead of "Democratic" Party?

why is it "Democrat" party instead of "Democratic" Party?
i think it has everything to do with the differences between the cases (nominative and accusative) of the word when Democratic is used as a noun rather than an adjective.
for example, you can easily say that "The Republican Party nominated John McCain to be President. John McCain is a Republican."
it's harder to say "The Democratic Party nominated Barack Obama to be President. Barack Obama is a Democratic." Instead, you would say in the second part "Barack Obama is a Democrat." So some people mix and match Democrat and Democratic. But the official name is Democratic National Committee - or Democratic Party, as you said.
oprah has no influence other than hosting fundraisers - she gave palin a forum didn't she?
nobody listens to jesse except the right and sometimes the press - really - nobody
rush is talked about all the time - left and right - i assume he regularly has pols on his show but i don't listen so maybe thats not true - and of course the apology list is much longer than steele
Rush Limbaugh rarely has guests. Every few weeks there will be one but that is about it. The only other voice one hears on his show is his long time producer James Golden (aka Bo Snerdley).
Golden - who is black - is the "official Obama criticizer" a funny bit they do from time-to-time where Golden challenges Obama policy in black street speak.
There's no way that Rush Limbaugh would allow a black man anywhere near his set.
c'mon, deeds. even the cruelest of slaveowners allowed a few of the black folk to come work in the house.

Thomas Sowell used to guest host for Limbaugh with fair frequency. Not sure if he still does since I'm not typically in my car at that time of day any more.

Stand-ins for Limbaugh:
Dr. Walter E. Williams
Economics professor, strong proponent of laissez-faire capitalism, and former chairman of the Economics Department at George Mason University in Virginia. He normally only hosts on Fridays, likely due to schedule conflicts, and is a fan favorite.
Dr. Thomas Sowell
Thomas Sowell, is an American economist, social commentator, and author of dozens of books. He often writes from an economically laissez-faire perspective. He is currently a senior fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

I was only aware of Walter Williams... I've never heard Sowell on the program before, nor is he listen on Wikipedia as a current Stand-in, but I"m sure he has before

I forgot about Walter Williams. That guy is a hoot.
Unlike Sowell, I like Walter Williams, even though I don't agree with him much.

I think we got 0-2, if anyone else is counting....
What about Alan Keyes? It seems like he may have been interviewed by Rush back during the Clinton administration since he is a Republican and such an outspoken critic of the Clintons.
Yes. I mentioned earlier that Beau (Bo) Snerdley is the nickname of Limbaugh's producer James Golden. "Black enough to criticize" Golden says when he critiques Obama.
Thomas Sowell has never guest hosted the Limbaugh show. However, he is usually a guest of Walter Williams when Williams fills in.

Ah, that's probably it. As I said, it's been quite a few years since I heard any part of Limbaugh's show on a regular basis. Sowell comes to mind more quickly than Williams because my husband has a quote from him stuck on the wall above his desk here at home.

Evidently a birther, but makes some good points relative to government spending and amnesty for illegal aliens. It IS insanity! And the immigration stance, I might add, is one widely held in the African-American community, at least down here.
But the question I was answering was relative to black men who might appear on Limbaugh. Keyes, I believe, has.
Oh come on. I've never heard of the guy but you've got to be kidding me. He's white, 42, and his hair isn't yet dry from all of the swirlies in school.

Correct?
I think some people do it because in the history of the senate, some democrats have expressed their displeasure with "democrat party". If I had to wager on it, I'd wager that its done intentionally by Limbaugh.

My understanding is that it is an effort that sprung up in the last 10 years - a rovian effort to childishly disparage the opposition. "They aren't democratic - that is something we revere - they are something else". I've seen a few hosts give guest crap when they use it - I think that should happen more often.
yeah bill that's exactly what I'm talking about. I think its strange.

It IS done intentionally by Limbaugh(among others) because he thinks it sounds derisive. The simple fact is Democratic Party rolls off the tongue more easily than Democrat Party. I always thought it was the party that was Democratic and the members were Democrat(s). But what do I know? I don't speak into a microphone for a living.
