Congressional Republican Birther Refuses to Show His Own Birth Certificate
So where's your birth certificate, congressman? - Glenn Thrush - POLITICO.com
Quote:
Last week, POLITICO asked the 11 House Republicans co-sponsoring the so-called "birther" bill — requiring presidential candidates to prove they were born in the U.S.— for copies of their own birth certificates.
It is not, of course, a requirement for members of Congress to either produce a birth certificate or be natural born citizens of the United States.
But we decided to ask anyway:
The bill’s original sponsor, Rep. Bill Posey of Florida, is out of the country but sent this e-mail: “I do not have a copy of my certificate handy, because there is no constitutional requirement for it.” He says he'd authorize us to get it from the bureau of vital statistics, though, and will present a certified copy if he ever runs for president.
Some of the six Texans co-sponsoring the bill had an easier time of it, since the Houston Chronicle had already asked for their birth certificates.
But Texas Rep. Randy Neugebauer declined the chance to show his proof of birth. His staff sent a one-line e-mail response: “Congressman Neugebauer will not be submitting a copy of his birth certificate."
|
I suspect that Congressman Neugebauer (R-Looney Tunes) was born in Kosovo and is an undercover terrorist trying to turn us into a Muslim nation.

I think this thread is fishy and I've reported it to the White House.

The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room » House GOPer cites ‘birther’ claims, ‘enemies list’ at town hall
Quote:
The trend of controversial town halls contiuned on Friday when Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.) questioned the authenticity of President Barack Obama's birth certificate and referred to a White House "enemies list" at a meeting in Tulsa.
"This is a scary time in Washington," he said. "It's a very frightening time. I see Barack Obama is creating an enemies list of people who oppose this miserable health care plan. I think that's frightening. That's from a guy that can't even show a long-form birth certificate. I think we all ought to be prepared to fight that."
|
I think I'm simply going to make this thread a running summary of all elected Republicans who make birther statements. It could get a bit dicey in here.

I'm not sure that the Obama's new dog meets birthing qualifications to be a pet in the whitehouse though. I heard that there was something fishy about it's AKC paperwork.

How about republicans worry about creating policies for our country, instead of where Obama is born?

It's just the Republicans turn to bicker, and the Dems don't like it. Even though it was the same stuff in reverse 7 months ago.
Billms - the 1884 season was probably just as sweet!

Did you know that Sarah Palin's daughter Trig is actually the child of her daughter?
OJ is also innocent.
Oh, and George Bush shirked his National Guard duty.
Oh, and one more -- spending cures debt.

Actually Newt's nuclear proposal would have done quite a bit to help with the stimulus and to assist with the left's climate change issues.
The left's refusal to understand that nuclear would be a great bridge to wind/solar, isn't his fault.

I have to say, funniest thing I read on this chat room is how lefties now believe government spending is a worthy cause.....such a dramatic shift from 1/18/09 to 1/19/09.

Don't you know? Its okay when they spend like maniacs but whenever anyone else does it, its ruining this nation.
IIRC, They've spent more in 8 months than Bush did in 8 years

As I recall, the conservatives were doing more yelling over Bush's spending than any Democrat. Most often used descriptive phrase by conservative pundits was, "spending money like a drunken sailor on his first night in port."

Patently false. The GOP has offered several health care proposals:
The GOP's Health-Care Alternative - WSJ.com
House GOP outlines health care reform bill - Jun. 17, 2009
New GOP Health Bill Promotes on Tax Incentives - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
They also proposed several alternative stimulus bills:
GOP senators draft stimulus alternative - CNN.com
FACTBOX-US House Republican alternative stimulus proposal | Reuters
Republican Senators Put Together Alternative Stimulus Package « Purple People Vote
Office of the Republican Whip :: Stronger and Simpler Stimulus
Now, you won't agree with these proposals, but to simply say that "[t]here are none" with regards to GOP proposals is flat out wrong.
Another thing: calling the GOP the "Party Of No" is wrong in two respects; first, they have consistently offered competing proposals, and second, they don't have sufficient votes to say "no" to anything so long as the Democrats are even remotely unified. Only congressional Democrats can say yes or no to anything at the moment.

This is true. Bush earned a lot of conservative support for his conduct in the WOT, but his handling of the economy lost him just as much.
