I see Andre Drummond leads the team in win shares. He's played about half the minutes of most of the starters. Obviously it's early and he had one great game as well, but you'd think making up half the PT would be a tough accomplishment. Tells you how much the players that are starters are producing.

Seems odd to have Gladys Knight performing tonight.

I always assumed the idea behind those performers were to draw fans in. Doesn't seem like that would be necessary with OKC and Durant in town. Charlotte or some other crappy team would seem like a better night to have her perform.

I haven't been to the Palace for a Pistons game in 10 years...I suspect a lot has changed in the time period. My impression is going to a Pistons game is less about the game itself as it is about the entertainment that surrounds it.

Also -- I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year its called the Palace of Auburn Hills. I'd put my money on Gores selling the naming rights before the start of next season.

Yeah, I worded that wrong. It doesn't take into account the competition, players on the court with you, etc. Win Shares is kinda laughed at and I wish BBR would stop using it.

Its not a perfect stat, but I think it has its value. I mean, look at the leaders in defensive win shares year after year. Josh Smith,Dwight HowardX4,DuncanX2,B.WallaceX4,Duncan,Shaq,2 more Duncans,Ewing,DrobX2,EwingX2,Rodman,DROB,HakeemX4.

I can find flaws too, don't get me wrong. Antoine Walker with a top 10 finish, Boozer top 10(though he's underrated here due to his strength and rebounding) etc., but I think its a stat at least worth taking a look at.

Similarly when you look at the top 100 or so WS/48 guys, you don't have a ton of major issues. The order isn't perfect, but the list has the right guys on it.

Drummond just has those athletic-type plays that we don't see out of the Pistons over the last three or four years.

Now that the Pistons have OKC's attention, let's see what happens in the second half. It looked like the Pistons' 12-point lead was going to be erased before the end of the half, but they held.
