I see Andre Drummond leads the team in win shares. He's played about half the minutes of most of the starters. Obviously it's early and he had one great game as well, but you'd think making up half the PT would be a tough accomplishment. Tells you how much the players that are starters are producing.

Lucky for Drummond that Win Shares don't take defense into account.

Seems odd to have Gladys Knight performing tonight.

I always assumed the idea behind those performers were to draw fans in. Doesn't seem like that would be necessary with OKC and Durant in town. Charlotte or some other crappy team would seem like a better night to have her perform.

I haven't been to the Palace for a Pistons game in 10 years...I suspect a lot has changed in the time period. My impression is going to a Pistons game is less about the game itself as it is about the entertainment that surrounds it.

Also -- I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year its called the Palace of Auburn Hills. I'd put my money on Gores selling the naming rights before the start of next season.

Um, yes they do. Win shares are made up of combined offensive and defensive win shares.

Yeah, I worded that wrong. It doesn't take into account the competition, players on the court with you, etc. Win Shares is kinda laughed at and I wish BBR would stop using it.

Its not a perfect stat, but I think it has its value. I mean, look at the leaders in defensive win shares year after year. Josh Smith,Dwight HowardX4,DuncanX2,B.WallaceX4,Duncan,Shaq,2 more Duncans,Ewing,DrobX2,EwingX2,Rodman,DROB,HakeemX4.

I can find flaws too, don't get me wrong. Antoine Walker with a top 10 finish, Boozer top 10(though he's underrated here due to his strength and rebounding) etc., but I think its a stat at least worth taking a look at.

Similarly when you look at the top 100 or so WS/48 guys, you don't have a ton of major issues. The order isn't perfect, but the list has the right guys on it.

Both Pistons primary PGs have two fouls with time to spare in the first quarter.

Singler drives and is fouled. The Pistons can take the lead right here.

Stuckey to Jerebko for a layup and a foul. He converts and the Pistons are up 32-30 with 9:41 left in the half.

Yeah, good point. People elbow your teammate, cheap shot another in the post during the road trip - who stood up for their teammate? Mickey York actually brought it up.

That's probably never going to change this year. But we're seeing some good stuff on offense.

They seemed to do well on the defensive glass.

Drummond just has those athletic-type plays that we don't see out of the Pistons over the last three or four years.

It looked like the Pistons were going to have 20 fouls and double-digit turnovers in the first half.

Now that the Pistons have OKC's attention, let's see what happens in the second half. It looked like the Pistons' 12-point lead was going to be erased before the end of the half, but they held.

    Points in the Paint

    Pistons 32-24

I'm sure that hasn't happened in a half this year. OKC is still on near-pace for 50, but at least the Pistons are on pace for 60.

Hah, just what I suspected. OKC is playing their fourth game in five days. That explains some of the lack of energy.
