And the NBA with another close game in an exciting OKC-San Antonio series. The Game 3 ratings on NBC Sports are going to be brutal.

That was an absolute bloodletting by the Kings tonight.

4-0 final! Excellent. These Kings will be my favorite non-Wings winner of the Cup since the '93 Habs. Their level of dominance has been absolutely staggering. First team ever to lead all 4 of their series 3-0. Really, has any team ever, even a #1 seed, ever had a more impressive playoff season?!

The poor Devils never had a chance.
Since the expansion of all playoff rounds to 7 games in 1987, the 1988 Oilers have needed the least amount of games, 18, to win the cup. The Kings can tie that if the win on Wednesday.

Quite impressive indeed. I had fully expected a closer series. That's not gonna happen now.

Gretzky puck drop riles up Staples Center crowd - Yahoo! Sports CanadaThe Devils' appearance in California is the first time they have left the Eastern time zone since Jan. 14, when they finished a three-game trip through Western Canada. New Jersey hadn't even been on a plane since April 26 after playing Philadelphia and the New York Rangers in the past two playoff rounds.

The Kings are awesome. So awesome that there's really no drama. And no one's watching. Ratings for Game 3 down 37% from last year's Game 3 and around 50% from 2010's Game 3. Fortunately for NBC and NBC Sports Network the playoff ratings were pretty strong going into the SCF.

I wonder if the ratings would be better if NJ had won at least one of the games in NJ? I'm thinking not much, and that's really too bad.

The Devils have no answer for anything the Kings are throwing at them offensively or defensively. They're going stretches without a shot on goal, not getting very good ones when they do get a shot off and are a ticking time bomb for one to be scored soon by the Kings.

More pressure from the Devils here to start the second period and even up the play with LA. But still the Kings not falling back and going empty handed with a scoring chance themselves by Dwight King.

The Devils have been the Kings' equal tonight, but I thought the 2 on 1 just now would have been the potential Cup winner!

If the Kings score the next goal and shut out the Devils, will "2" set the record as the fewest goals allowed in the SCF?

Thats been the record since 1952 when Terry Sawchuk shut the Canadiens out twice in a 4 game sweep allowing 1 goal in both of the other wins.
Also, I'm glad the Kings didn't win tonight. I despise the "Sucks" chant, and i'm glad the fans at Staples got a great big crap burger tonight.DETROIT RED WINGS VS. MONTREAL CANADIENS
TERRY SAWCHUK MADE HIS DEBUT IN THE CUP FINAL AND ROSE TO THE OCCASION, RECORDING TWO SHUTOUTS AND LIMITING MONTREAL TO JUST TWO GOALS DURING THE FOUR-GAME SERIES. MEANWHILE, GORDIE HOWE CONTRIBUTED HIS FIRST TWO CAREER GOALS IN A STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES. THE RED WINGS SET AN NHL RECORD BY WINNING ALL EIGHT POSTSEASON GAMES, INCLUDING A FOUR-GAME SWEEP OVER TORONTO IN THE FIRST ROUND."Every day is better than the last day." - Pavel Datsyuk

Who are the geniuses at NHL and NBC that insist on a 2-day break in the middle of frickin' June. Out of sight, out of mind. Ha, serves them right that Heat-Celtics Game 7 is tonight. No one is going to be watching tonight, I bet many casual hockey fans even will be watching basketball tonight if they're watching anything. I can think of at least 4 sporting events today that appeal to me more than Game 5 - Germany vs Portugal, Tigers-Reds, Heats-Celtics, the Pacquaio fight. The Belmont would have been ahead too if the Canadian-owned horse with the Vancouver-based jockey was still going for the Triple Crown.

I'll be watching hockey... for some reason I haven't been into the NBA for a long time and I used to be almost as into it as hockey.
I agree about the 2-day break though... if they want people to get into the NHL they really need to practically shove it down people's throats.
I was bummed that I'll Have Another had to bow out of the Belmont, too. For some reason I'd like to see a horse win the Triple Crown. This spot, and a place in my heart, is reserved for TC.
