I forgot there should be a new thread for this and posted in last round's thread.
Looks like it's going to be an intense game. I'm kicking myself for timing my experiment to end such that I have to get to work at 4.
The Bruins will need to do better on the PP than 0-21, and Lucic will have to wake up. Good to see Krejci with the goal, as he was another person who seemed iffy in the series against Montreal. This spot, and a place in my heart, is reserved for TC.

I get a little busy at work and check in on this game and see its 6-3 Bruins... nice.

I just got home and am happy to see the final score of 7-3 Bruins. Nice! I just hope they're saving some for the rest of the series.
Looks like Krejci has snapped out of whatever was ailing him for at least one game... didn't see that Lucic did anything but I didn't look closely enough to see how much he played. I like that Bergeron is continuing to do well (next to Savard, he's my favorite Bruin).
I have to say that the attitude of certain Bruins fans has been annoying me since they won the series against Montreal. The Bruins won, be happy and stop whining about the Habs and insulting their fans! The Bruins fans I know aren't like this, but unfortunately the jerks as always are way too loud. I'm glad we know have Flyers fans to compare them to.

Nashville is really putting pressure on tonight and it would seem just a matter of time before the biscuit finds the basket! They're driving harder at the net, moving the puck around when they don't have a shot and not letting Vancouver dump it or chip it by them, consistently making the clear defensively.

Nashville ties it up with 1:07 left in the 3rd. Huge goal for them

Nashville came to play tonight, outshooting Vancouver 36-15 in regulation. Tough break for Luongo, he had stopped the first 55 shots of the series and was a minute away from back to back shutouts when the bank shot from behind the net handcuffed him.

Rinne! Big saves on Bieksa and Laperierre in the dying moments of the 1st OT. Otherwise, the period seemed somewhat dull considering it was a playoff overtime. Off to double OT.

Rinne has been sick, just sick with his saves; Luango hasn't been half bad himself there.

3 goals combined in 7+ periods in this series. Good goaltending by both.

How do any of those guys out there have anything left......

If Nashville had lost that game, I don't know how any of those guys could have faced Rinne.....

Pekka Rinne was something else tonight! Thankfully for him his team had his back more so tonight (given that they actualy scored a pair of goals, let alone one) than in game one. Nashville turned the puck over more than they should have and didn't get enough consistent pressure on Luango in the overtime periods. Tonight though good goaltending didn't go to waste and they certainly played with more aggression throughout and showed up with all that matters in the end, a puck in the net.

Rinne was fantastic in OT, as he needed to be. But in regulation, Nashville outplayed Vancouver and Luongo was the busier goalie.

I'm not really in a mood to watch hockey, I'm bummed about the Wings. But am checking in on Caps-Bolts now and then. Facing a big pressure game, the Caps tie it 1-1 and it's now late in the 2nd. The Caps though have gone 0 for 6 on the PP tonight, 0 for 11 on the series.

After Ovechkin ties it in the final minute of regulation, Lecavalier wins it quickly in OT.
Yzerman's Lightning going home up 2-0!

Philly and Washington both leave home in 2-0 holes. Boston beats the Flyers in OT.

Ovie and out? Tampa scores 2 goals in 24 seconds to put 1 skate into the conference finals with a 4-3 victory tonight. Up 3-0, they'll go for the clincher Thursday.
The yellow-out in Nashville looks horrible. As unpleasant to view as the turf at Boise St's stadium.

Hmm, the city of Vancouver has been totally relaxed this week in an afterglow, but they won't be if the Canucks fall tonight. 1-0 after 1, Nashville. Luongo didn't face a ton of shots but was the best Canuck on the ice, especially in the final few minutes of the period to keep Vancouver within 1, stopping Sullivan on a breakaway for example.

Appears the Wings' poor start to the 2nd round has turned everyone off of hockey.
Another Preds-Canucks OT. 2-2 after regulation. Canucks haven't had a 2-goal lead since Game 3 of the Hawks series.
Some startling stats about the Sedins going into this game (in which Daniel has an assist, Henrik is pointless):
It?s Sedins' time to get Canucks going and they know it
The Nashville Predators have held the Canucks to two goals in two games. Henrik and Daniel have been skunked so far by Preds goalie Pekka Rinne, who is about 10 feet tall with double the usual allotment of arms and legs.
Indeed, in the six games since Chicago poltergeist Dave Bolland returned to haunt them in Game 4 of the Blackhawks series, the twins are a combined minus-13, with a paltry two goals and an assist between them.
They are pointless, period, in their last three games, and though they were also blanked three in a row in late February/early March, there were six weeks left in the regular season. It was a minor annoyance then, nothing more.
The timing of this particular slump is more than worrisome.
And after two playoff seasons in which they posted identical, and more than respectable, point totals — 24 apiece in 23 games — their production has not only dropped off, but there has been a perceptible difference in their relative performance level. Daniel has played reasonably well, Henrik has struggled. Neither has looked fully engaged in the game.

I watched the first two games of this series and watched the Tampa Bay/Washington game earlier but skipped this one. Apparently I am missing another OT thriller.

The penalty was a joke, but to be fair, it was clearly a make-up call from a minute earlier when Bieksa was hit from behind. So the Canucks win, but they fortunate as they coughed up the puck many times in OT, they were outplayed by Nashville in the extra stanza but found a way to win.

I understand what you're saying, I just hate make up calls!
-
05-04-2011, 10:34 AM #31
If you saw the replay on the hit from behind though, the Canuck guy clearly baited that hit. He looked behind him and 'stopped short' so the Predator would run into his back. Maybe that's still a penalty according to the rulebook, but I'm really getting sick of so many penalties (and playoff games) being dictated by how well a player sells the calls and baits other players/referees.

Washington has one period to save its season and extend Bruce Boudreau's tenure as Caps' coach. 3-2 for the Yzermans after 2.

5-3 TB with 1:21 to go. Caps with PP and empty net, but all the Bolts need to do is win a faceoff or two.

It's all over! Caps swept in a series for a first time since the SCF by the Wings in '98. Familiar end to a season for Ovechkin.
