Zombie taste best when they are toasted.
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight; my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. -- Psalm 144:1-2

On a serious note, it is interesting to see fast zombies. I wonder if they will be smart(ish) too. This movie looks to be only loosely based on the book as the book didn't really have a plot or story. It was written more as history of the event after it was all over. The author "interviewed" survivors who told their portion of happenings during the event. Which of course would probably make for a bad movie.

I disagree... I don't think you can say that in all fairness. I mean, unless you've really watched a LARGE number of zombie movies. The thing is that the genre is so diverse in terms of what a zombie is: Fast or slow? Smart or Stupid? Contagious or not? There is also differences in terms of what's happening: Global issue or local problem? What are the hero's trying to do? Stop/Solve the problem or just escape the situation? Is the movie a comedy or serious horrror? Is it focused on the problem of the creatures or is it more a character driven that focuses on the survivors and how they are dealing with it?
Because there are so many different variations I don't think you can lump them all together a "zombie movies" in the same way you can lump "romantic comedies" or "action flicks" together.
Just as an example:
Technically both World War Z and this movie are "zombie movies."

Naaaaa.....
The people on the zombie forum I have been involved with for about 5 years or so have been ALL over this since it was announced on some weird/crappy website like 2 years ago.
The trailer looks pretty good, but they are fast zombies.
CGI up the butt on this one from the looks of it, but I have to admit some of those cut scenes looked pretty amazing.
This is going to be NOTHING like the book. We realized this quite a while ago which gave us time to ***** that it would be so different and now can sit back and enjoy whatever Brad decides to put out there."Yeah You're right man...that is enough."

The zombie apocalypse has already begun, judging from the looks I see on faces around me every day. ;)

I like that they at least have speed on their side and it looks like every person that ever died and is buried comes back up as zombies by the mass numbers we see. This actually gives the zombies some sort of fighting chance and makes you think that maybe, just maybe what they are trying to sell has a chance to be at least a tiny bit true - unlike, well, people here know.

I agree. The fast zombie thing makes them scarier IMO. Also more believable for a zombie apocalypse than those slow moving bastards.
The remake of Dawn of the Dead also had fast movers. And even though it's not technically a zombie movie, 28 Days Later also had runners.
I like my zombies like I like my womens. Except with a lot better hygiene.
I also like the "river of zombies" scene. This makes sense. If all they want is human flesh, I would imagine they would not go "oh, excuse me/pardon me/may I get by please?"
I would think the faster ones would overrun the slower ones and scramble over them to get to their prey. This would create the "river" effect.
Lord help me. I've gone full nerd.Last edited by Antrat; 11-11-2012 at 10:47 AM.
