2012 Predictions......
In Sports.....
Baseball - Tigers will get as far as last year but no further. The Yankees will not make the playoffs - neither will the Miami Marlins. Jim Leyland will retire and Terry Francona will be hired as Tigers manager. Albert Pujols will miss more than 60 games with injuries. Darvish and Cespedes will both be busts (at least this year) The Philadelphia over Texas in the World Series.
Football - Lions will win one playoff game this year (over the Giants). After the season the Colts let Peyton Manning go and draft Andrew Luck. Manning ends up with the Cowboys and Jeff Fisher will be his coach. Tony Romo goes to Seattle. Washington makes a draft day deal with St. Louis and takes Robert Griffin III. The Lions draft Wisconsin C Peter Konz in the first round. The Lions will go 13-3 next year, win the NFC North, because of an easy schedule. They will go to next season's Super Bowl against Baltimore (and lose).
College Football - Michigan loses a close one to Alabama and even though they are a better team (than this year), they will finish 10-3 with loses to Alabama, Nebraska and Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game. They return to the Sugar Bowl. USC wins the BCS title.
Matt Barkley wins the Heisman. Denard Robinson is invited to NY but finishes fourth.
Basketball - NBA, who cares (Joe Dumars gets fired after the season)
College Basketball - Michigan and Michigan State both make the Elite 8, but go no further. Jim Boeheim resigns amid scandal after the season.
Hockey - Wings go the conference finals, but no further. Phoenix Coyotes move to Quebec City and will switch to one of the Eastern Coferences. Buffalo beats Chicago in the Stanley Cup Finals. Vancouver has riots.
Politics - Romney gets the Republican nomination, but that pisses off 60% of the party and the Tea Party gets Ron Paul to run as an independent. Romney picks Nikki Haley as his running mate - Ron Paul picks Paul Ryan. Based on 2008's electoral map - The states that go blue to red are Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina and Nevada. The ones that go red to blue are Arizona and Montana (because of high Latino turnout in Arizona and heavy Ron Paul support). Obama wins
Entertainment - Lindsay Lohan O.D.'s Adele wins every Grammy she is up for. The Artist wins the Oscar for Best Picture. Clear Channel CEO John Hogan will resgin. Former Citadel radio CEO Farid Suleman will be charged with felony fraud.

Sports:
The Miami Heat gets it done.
The Lions get better, but still sport a 10-11 win season and lose in the first round of the playoffs.
The Red Wings win a first round series, but lose the next round pretty soundly.
The Pistons get the #3 pick in the draft.
The Tigers win the Central, but lose in the first round of the playoffs to the Anaheim Angles.
The Yankees struggle all year long, and the Red Sox look like world beaters (losing the World Series to Philly)
Michigan improves, and wins the Big Ten championship game. They end up 11-3 (losing to Alabama, ND, and the Rose Bowl to Oregon) LSU wins the BCS championship against USC.
The bottom finally falls out on many large conferences, and the beginning of the "mega conference" period begins. Several conferences begin making plans on going to 16 teams.
Politics:
Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination (barely). Paul and Newt reluctantly get out of the way and throw him their support. Massachusetts helps him win a VERY tight election, and the results are stuck in courts for a month after the election. Romney ends up winning, but riots ensue nationwide.
Finances:
The stock market hits a major bump. It drops into the low 9,000 point range, although slowly recovers above 10,000 by year end. The world markets do even worse. The US economy sees a slight uptick, but the world markets experience some significant damage that is felt in the markets.
Laws:
Legalized sale of marijuana takes a huge step forward in California as they use it's tax revenue to boost a huge tax deficit. Other bordering states, and some other states running huge deficits begin discussing similar legislation.
World:
A major conflict begins in the Middle East between Iran and several other nations. It is "touch and go" with rumors of nuclear options floating all over the place, but things calm down before nuclear options are used. The US is fully involved once again in the Middle East (as is most the world).
Egypt, Libya, and North Korea have their ups and downs but eventually settle down with new leadership in place.
Box Office:
Box office records are broken with monster box office takes. Batman, Spiderman, the Avengers, Twilight movie part 2, and the Hobbit all have monster numbers while John Carter, the Hunger Games, Madagascar 3, GI Joe, Ice Age, and Expendables 2 all have really good numbers.
I think 2012 will be better than 2011 in the United States, but I think it will be harder on Europe and other places in the world. I do hope things improve here in the US as well as in the world. I'd like to see less pain in 2012.
