Default Converting video to DVD, the low tech way...

Okay, so my father-in-law has a bunch of old video... we're talking OLD video like the kind you run through the film projector! He wanted to see if he could convert it to DVD, so he set up the projector and ran it on the wall. He then setup his newer Video camera and pointed that at the movie playing on the wall. From here he hooked the video camera up to the DVD burner and burned a copy onto a DVD.

Now, everything worked reasonably well, except that there is noticeable flicker. Obviously the video camera picked up on the black space between pictures in the old motion picture. If I pulled that Video off his DVD, does anyone know of a software product that can work to clean that up?

Isn't this the punchline to a Larry The Cable Guy joke.

I did a Google Search using "software that will eliminate the flicker from film to DVD transfer" and got 31,300 hits. Obviously, most of those will be useless, but the site below might help. There were also several others on the first page of hits that appears to address the problem.

The fps will get you every time. It would be costly to do it professionally, so that's probably the best way to do it. The difference in frames per second is what causes the flicker. You will not get rid of the flicker; you even get a flicker at the movies.
