OOTP 13
I'm sure we have some guys playing this.
I'm towards the end of May in the first season (playing with the Tigers). Haven't made many moves...
-Cut Inge, replaced him with Worth
-Traded Ryan Raburn (when he started 1-31, how accurate is this game?) straight up for Jamie Carroll. Carroll is starting at 2nd.
-Just today traded Andy Oliver for J.D. Martinez (Boesch went down for 5 weeks).
Carroll-2B
Boesch (Martinez)-RF
Cabby-3rd
Prince-1st
Avila-C
Peralta-SS
Jackson-CF
Dirks-LF
Elmon-DH
In a twist of sweet, sweet irony, the Twinkies picked up Brandon Inge when I cut him and have started Inge at 3rd and Raburn at 2nd in the same game.

Its been a while since I have tried a game using real players (been playing since OOTP4). I used to always start up with real players, but over time have found fictional players with real teams and some expansion teams more interesting. My solo league right now consists of all of the current MLB teams, les Expos, and some other cities (Portland, Charlotte, etc) to get 40 teams. Simmed about 20-30 years, most of which the Tigers were not very good, and took over the Tigers.
I've always intended on going back to 1995 and taking over the Tigers there, but have never done it.
And then there's the online league with some of the morons from here that I have been pretty abysmal at. Added in as an expansion team 8 or 9 seasons ago and have only a pair of back-to-back game 163 game losses to show for it.

I've only made the finals once in 15 seasons. That's almost Randy Smith bad!

Got it a few days ago. Wasn't too hard into OOTP 12, maybe it's the year off or something but 13 is really grabbing me right now.
2003 Tigers = 2010 Tigers
2012 AAT: Josue Carreno 0-2, 3.30 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9, 7.8 K/9

Can I woe is me about CVT's crazy start to the year? He's ruining the "PHP: This Is It" tour!

Some of the chatter in this thread got me to fire up the single player on OOTP12 for the first time ever-- currently playing as the '11 Tigers. Inge is pretty true to form, 21 strikeouts in his first 20 games.

Can we go back to OOTP6 ? I rocked that one LOL.

Interestingly, I struggled through April (especially my first 2 weeks, playing slightly sub .500 ball) before getting red hot in May. I'm at the trade deadline with a 15 game lead and I'm on pace to win 100 games.
Jamie Carrol has a .340 OBP but is slugging under .300 for a "solid" .620 OPS (and a -.7 WAR), Worth has a .290 OBP, but a more respectable .350SLG and a net 0 WAR. Ramon Santiago just had his OPS dip under .700, with a very Santiago like .310 OBP and .375 SLG and around a .3 WAR. Those three are the the 2nd and 3rd baseman (Cabby went down for 5 weeks, but was winning the All Star break triple crown).
Fister and Porcello are both battle for the ERA title, JV is leading the league in K's. The pen stinks (though, I did draft a very nice lefty who was major league ready and is contributing nicely). Drew Smyly was a net 0 WAR player before I sent him back to the minors. Giving Below a few starts than it'll be Turner time.

Yeah, I knew my 8-5 start wouldn't last. The 2-11 collapse was probably to be expected for me. It'll probably be a few seasons before I can get too worried about the playoffs.
I once jokingly talked smack about a 3 game set with Ludington in one of my better seasons, and after that sim was run, I think I was outscored something ridiculous like 40 - 5. All I could do was laugh about it.

I can't help but sometimes feel like I sucked my way into a good team-- have enough consecutive years with a top 5 draft pick and you almost have to start winning.

Wrapped up Season 1 yesterday.
93 wins in the regular season (won the central by 15 games). 3-1 in the ALDS over the Rays, swept by the Angels in the ALCS. A few interesting points of reference...
--Scored 785 runs
--Allowed 687 runs
The staff combined for 100 quality starts, JV with 24, Porcello with 22, Fister with 21 and Scherzer with 20. JV and Porcello finished #1 and #2 in the AL for FIP.
Cabby won the MVP, batting .361, 38HR and 101 RBI. He had a WAR of 8.1. He only played 110 games, otherwise he probably wins the triple crown. As it is, he finished #2 in HRs (Bautista with 39), 4th or 5th in RBI. He did not qualify for the batting title (Mauer, .331) but he probably runs away with that as well. Just a monster season.

I've been playing a lot of OOTP12 the last week, I love how you can let the leagues change on their own.
After the 2011 season they expanded, Columbus Ice Dogs in the ALC, and Austin Smash in the ALW.
After the 2012 World Series, they increased the roster size to 26 players.
During the 2012 offseason they announced that Veterans could no longer refuse being sent to the minors.
Wonder what else i'll get in this league.VT B.R.B. "We only part to meet again"

if anyone is interested, I've got a league Untitled Document with a few open teams (Florida, Baltimore, Cincinnatti, Seattle) we're still using OOTP 12, but switching to 13 at the end of the season. 3 of the 4 open teams are in 1st place, so some pretty good franchises that people left open. We've got a few guys in the league from Michigan that are Tiger fans as well.
Put me on record. Prince Fielder will still OPS 850+ in years 7-8-9 of this contract. (sucks that my signature has to stay this for 7 years now)

As far as the solo stuff, I am not much for using real life players. I have tried to take over the Tigers in 1994, 1995, and 2003, but just can't stay too interested in it even though Trammell & Whitaker are involved and/or trying to upgrade that 2003 slop is so intriguing. It seems goofy to me to have the possibility of Cal Ripken playing for San Diego or something like that. As much as I would like to take over those teams, I guess rewriting history isn't my thing.
I have a fake 54 team setup which just expanded from 48 last season, and I have control of the expansion Toledo Mud Hens in a division with teams in Detroit (Wolverines), Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toronto. Just thought it'd be fun to manage a team in Toledo, but used fake teams because I couldn't bring myself to be against the Tigers.

I picked this up not too long ago. Moved the Brewers to the AL Central and created teams in Puerto Rico and Las Vegas. Tigers are currently in 2nd place, behind the royals. Weird.
