For those like me who thinks this game still wipes the floor with the nextgen games, some people created a version of MVP '08 you can update to. It's like a brand new game!

I've been checking that out, I'll have to download the mod when
time allows. PS for a rough estimate of the batting attributes, I use
these formulas: SLG/.007 & AVG/.004, round both to nearest whole #
(So if he batted .300 and slugged .500, his attributes would be 75 & 72)2012 & 2013 Adopt A Tiger: Dean Green (Lakeland Flying Tigers)

So what's the deal with this? I played the game for PS2 & thought it was awesome, but haven't played a baseball game on the computer probably since the Hardball games that came out wayyyy back in the day.
Would I have to download the game & then these mods or what?2012 Adopt-A-Tiger - Ryan Strieby

I figured it out, but it took some doing. You have to have both of the MVP 2005 CD's, or at least the CD images. Then you download both an installer program and the mod itself (about 700-800 MB). Took me a while to figure out where to unzip all the files to, but I got it working last night, and let me tell you, MVP 2008 version is amazing!
They re-drew all of the ballparks and smoothed out the viewing angles on batted balls, very nice! Comerica is showing the Pepsi Porch, and the ivy on the walls at Wrigley looks so real now. They also added a bunch of uniform jerseys, and have ALL of the minor league rosters updated with real players, and photos of nearly every minor league as well. Freaking awesomeness.2012 & 2013 Adopt A Tiger: Dean Green (Lakeland Flying Tigers)

I started playing this last summer until my PC basically died. Very cool. It took me forever to figure out how to get it installed but it was well worth the time.
The game also plays a bit different. The pitching was uncompromising without adjusting the sliders.
One weird thing about it, and they might have corrected it by now, was Fernando Rodney - he has Chad Durbin's face, but still black arms. It was freaky to watch him run out of the pen. Will the Delmon madness ever end? http://www.facebook.com/saynotodelmon

Yoop, do you think you would be able to help me out or explain what you did to get it to work? I should be able to get the game to run by itself, but once I have to get the install program & mod, it could get sketchy....
I'm in the process of downloading the game right now, and unfortunately, there are hardly any seeders, so the downloading process is taking forever (I started it right after my initial post & it's now only around 11% done, downloading at no more than 10-20 kB/s).....
Anyways, if you or anyone else could help walk me through the steps, I'd really appreciate it. I really could use a nice baseball game on my computer to kill some time.2012 Adopt-A-Tiger - Ryan Strieby

I went to eamods.com, as suggested above, then registered as a site member (free). Once you register, you can get all the downloads and the instructions right there, but if you run into trouble still let me know. Their download link was pretty fast, BTW.

Alright, well like I said before, I've got a while to go on this download of the game itself. I already registered at the website, and I see the total conversion for the 2008 season, but where is the Total Installer thing that you also need? Once I find out where that is, I'm hoping I'll be able to figure it out from there.

Thats a link to the installer. Download the mod file and installer. Unzip the installer and run it. It will create a .exe file in your MVP 2005 directory. Run that .exe file and then it will prompt you to pick what mod to install. Just navigate to wherever you downloaded the game file. Select it and run it and you are good to go.VT

I still play 2005 like crazy. It was the best 50 bucks I ever spent.

I wish there were an update for the PS2 version. I love this game, and still play it. It is difficult to make realistic however. If I create the guys who have come up since then and improve guys like Grandy and Verlander, the team is too good, unless I downgrade Willis and Sheff. I kind of like the team with a 2005 willis and Sheff.
I just met you, and this is crazy,
I want JBK to see this, could you quote me maybe?

I like to build my stadiums, and make a super team with as little money as possible. Usually players decline when their contracts get too high, which is why I love this game so much. I usually trade for the best player in each draft. I'm giving up talent, but older, more expensive talent.

Not sure what site you are using to download it, but Pirate Bay has 15 seeders right now. You will have to start over, but who knows when you will get seeders again on yours.

Alright.....I thought I had it figured out, but I need some more help.
I have the Installer thingy, i had the total conversion mod for 2008 & I had it running through the installer thing somehow, and it game me some message at the end that said something about the mod being ready or compatible or something, but now what? The game is still 2005 when I run it & I don't know what I just did.
I haven't ever ran a mod on a game so I have no idea what I'm doing & need some help.....2012 Adopt-A-Tiger - Ryan Strieby

I'm not quite sure where you are at, so I will start from the beginning.
You download the installer and then the mod file. The installer should be a .rar file and the mod file is a .*** file I think. Unpack the .rar and you should get 3 files, run the .exe file. That will put the *** installer into your MVP 2005 directory. If you did a standard install it will be C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\MVP Baseball 2005. In that directory will be a file called *** and the icon will say eamods. Run that and a little window will pop up. On the right hand side will be a button with 3 dots on it (Like this ...) click that and then just navigate to where you downloaded the full mod to (This is a huge file, something like 726 MB). Select it and hit start and it will start to install the mod. You will have to put both CD's in when asked, but other then that it will do everything for you. Now your game should be modded.
Now just start the game up. All the splash and title screens should say 2008 now. If you are still getting the 2005 schedule, do the following. Start your game then tab out. Go to your MVP directory again and click on the "Extras" folder. In that you will see a folder named something like TYwiggins-scheduleupdater, click that folder. Then just run the file inside of it and you should be on the 2008 schedule after that.
EDIT: All the *** above are T I T but with no spaces.VT

Did everything & the last message on my screen was this.....
Your files are now ready for EAmods' MVP 08.
Started the game up normally & still got the 05 version. Tabbed out & went to the directory, found the extras folder & TYwiggins-scheduleupdater, but there's nothing inside the folder when I click it, so nothing to run. There's no files in any of the folders actually.....
The only MVP 08 thing that pops up for me is a screen with Griffey in a Reds jersey that shows all the MVP 08 crew. A webpage keeps popping up though for Ami-Donations.
I dunno....I might just uninstall the whole thing & retry again tomorrow. Right now, I can't figure out why this isn't working.2012 Adopt-A-Tiger - Ryan Strieby

Use their install directions, probably less confusing then mine.
For the installer: http://www.eamods.com/index.php/View...***-2.0.3.html
For the mod: http://www.eamods.com/index.php/View...ll-08-MLB.html
you will have to scroll down on both pages to get the instructions.VT

I think I had the same problem, and it was because I was picking the wrong file in the Total Installer Thingy. When you run the installer and it asks for a file, make sure you select "08_WS_release.T*T", which is the huge file you downloaded for the actual mod.

MVP was great but come on. The Show brutalizes it.

The possibility is there for a return of MVP Baseball.
2K Sports' contract with MLB expires after this year, and MLB may look to EA Sports for a contract.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

Dude... the show is an incredible baseball game, so much more advanced and realistic than MVP. This is the best baseball game ever made. The new swinging/pitching may be weird and you can just turn that off, but the game experience is awesome. And then there's the road to the show, where you play your own character, it's insanely addictive.
Up above, aliens hover, making home movies for the folks back home.

Yeah, I downloaded the 11 Demo, and I'm having a problem figuring out how to pitch and have my fielders throw.
