Glad you took a picture of Maroth, for a minute thought we didn't have a pitching coach last night, because usually when a pitcher is in trouble, the pitching coach goes out there to settle them down, but our pitching coach kept his butt planted in his seat all night. I wish we still had Joe Coleman.

I finally got to thank EZ for the 2010 season after his June departure for again allowing me the freedom to share his ballfield as he had done for so many years. We both wanted to talk about his firing, but I would not probe and he still is the professional. He recalled reading some of my comments concerning his departure and cemented a new relationship. I told him I had found a possible addy for him which he confirmed and then gave me his email which I find special. Nice evening other than the game.

No, she accidently engaged the bumpers on my lane and I still did horrible. I haven't bowled since the 80's and the body did not give me any confidence on ball delivery. If we had gone to game 3, I might have gotten back to my old average of only 139. the more beer i drank, the less issues I had. Team Mom with all of her knee and back problems did good. I hope she feels okay in the AM.

I have a 400mm f/2.8 lens right now-- somebody I know has let me borrow it for the summer for a test drive, as he's looking to sell it this fall. Seeing as I shoot high school football/basketball/baseball for a local website I'm interested in putting this lens through its paces, to see if I'd like to make an offer on it. Obviously it's too big for basketball, but I could see it possibly working for baseball and football.

Today was the first baseball I have done with the lens-- walked away learning a couple lessons-- not certain, though, how useful the lens would be for the high school baseball I shoot-- because it's high school I'm usually right on top of everything, so the extra reach provided by 400mm might not really be needed.

Think this is the first Whitecaps game I shot since the 2010 season, actually.

Thanks Pothole! I'm not sure that is the right lens for baseball and basketball though. I've seen you deliver better clarity with your old gear. Still you have the talent for great captures. Nice to have your photos here again.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't dream of taking it to a basketball game. I'm using an 80-200mm or a 50mm for that.

Lack of sharpness is what I noticed today, too. Might have been partly due to the fact that the lens is showing its age (between 14 and 18 years old, from what I cal tell), or the more likely culprit was that I was shooting it wide open at f/2.8. Looking back, I should have closed that aperature up a bit to give me a deeper depth of field.

My 70-200 is also showing the age. I also need to upgrade one of my camera bodies. I have a dedicated doubler for that lens which I only use from the upper deck or landscapes.
