Hoping he can string a few solid offensive games together, it would be nice if he could leave AZ on a high note.

Just have to remember that AFL is always about the hitters and good stats, but it'll be nice to get the reg season out of his head.

One of Iorg's hits was off Tanner Sheppers today, although Sheppers didn't look all great. On one of Iorg's outs he smoked it to the first baseman who had to make a great play to steal a hit. Iorg also looked good at shortstop made a nice play and the hole and gunned the guy down with a strong throw.
Ackley's home run was a laser over the right field fence. Iorg was running on the play (I can't remember if it was due to the count though) he had a nice jump.
I got some video. It's low quality but I'll try to post it when I get home.

Wells (LF) and Iorg are in the lineup tonight.
Oliver is scheduled to pitch later in the game.
Mesa vs. Peo Javelinas - November 14, 2009 | MLB.com: Gameday
BTW, we should get a chance to see some of these guys next Saturday on MLB Network in the title game as the Jav's have clinched their division.

Iorg cranks a two-run HR in the second innning.
Life signs?

I'd love to see 200 ABs from him that suggested he might be a hitter. Maybe this is the start.

Ouch. Can he play QB?
Wells takes the collar (0-4), but Oliver and Weinhardt
both turned in a scoreless inning of relief last night.

I love the Free Press:
Quote:
Tigers prospect Cale Iorg starting to heat up in Arizona Fall League
Iorg, hitting .208 for the Peoria Javelinas, has a hit and a run in each of his past three games and has a hit in four of his past five. He hit a two-run homer in a 4-2 loss to the Mesa Solar Sox on Saturday.

10/17 update:
Going to the bottom of the 8th, Jav's hold a touchdown and 2 point conversion lead at 21-13 (seriously!)
Oliver just pitched a 1-2-3 6th inning and is done for the day.
Iorg left after his 0-2 start.
Wells is now 1-4, 2 r, bb, 3 k

Game finally over.
Jav's win 24-15 (probably more than the Lions/Browns score this Sun).
Robbie Weinhardt pitched 2 shutout innings to close it out (1 hit, 2 k)

Javs give up 15 and 2 Tiger propsects give up zero..encouraging. Then again the javs score 24 and Iorg is hitless.

Wells is 2-3 so far today with a single + double, and Iorg is 1-2 (single).
Weber pitched one inning, allowing one ER.

How does a team score 24 runs and every player didn't get a hit? There must have been 60 batters faced that game.

Team Mom sending him a Facebook hug right now! How can Bradshaw never manage a winning team in Florida and win Hawaii last year and Arizona this year? Fun listening to Rojas and Clark today.

I watched part of the game. Oliver and Weinhardt looked good. (But I wish the broadcast would have used a radar gun.)

Wouldn't an AFL team, featuring highly regarded prospects from a handful of organizations, be considered a better team than what he'd normally have in Lakeland? If he's got better players to work with in the fall leagues, it makes sense that he'd have more success.

True. Also it was 2007 when his team won Hawaii. Bradshaw is a special guy. Great personality and fan friendly. Excellent teacher with the kids. Knows the business well. From a fan viewpoint, the only thing he seems to lack is emotion on the field. I know it is there, but he keeps it well under control. This is easy to misinterpret from the seating area.

Well his one year in Lakeland he did have talent, 2 first round picks in Miller and Maybin, a round 2 pick in Ronnie Bourquin, that year the team was talented but had to be the worst Lakeland team I ever watched.

I ran into KB last night. I congratulated him on the win. I aksed him how much trouble did they get into with the pile up. He said Robbie landed with his arm backwards but he was fine when he got up. So he was okay with it. It was fun night for them. He really enjoyed the team he had to work with.

A blurb from an interview with Adam Foster from Project Prospect
Adam Foster: Josh Bell really impressed me with his defense at third base. He could be above-average all around there. Jonathan Lucroy, Brandon Snyder, Jose Tabata, Starlin Castro and Mike Leake also impressed me.
Casey Kelly and Grant Desme looked lost at the plate more often than not. I also walked away with less confidence in Brandon Allen than I had a few months ago - pitchers were picking him apart. And I didn't realize that Casper Wells is too thick to be a center fielder and such a poor contact hitter.
Fake Teams: How much weight do you put into AFL performances, as it appears to be more of a hitter's league every year?
Adam Foster: Not only do the AFL parks favor hitters, but the pitching is well behind the hitting overall. Guys put up crazy power numbers. Fly balls float out of the park. And while the hitters do typically see 4-5 pitchers a game, I doubt the pitchers really have much info on the hitters they're facing.
I've primarily been looking at strikeouts and walks in the AFL. But yeah, a 75-125 PA/TBF sample can only take you so far. If you take one thing away from reading this transcript, it should be to be careful about giving up much value for Grant Desme right now.

Kelly needs to put the bat down because it looks like he could really be an outstanding pitcher. If the Tigers and Red Sox do swing a Cabrera deal, I hope the Tigers insist on Kelly being included (as a pitcher).
