I saw it was a leg injury from the game log last night. Interesting that Righter gets the call. They probably didn't want to start a chain reaction so soon.

Check that, elbow injury, MRI today. That doesn't sound good, we'll wait on the result.

Restricted usually means a non-injury leave such as drugs, bereavement, mental depression etc.

Is Casey Fossum the guy the Devil Rays used to start? I remember one game he started against the Tigers where they couldn't hit his slider. None were strikes, but they get lunging for them all night.

Yeah, he started with the Tigers and spent the spring with the Pirates. In the last few years he has had to work on his breaking stuff because he lost about 5 MPH off his fastball after surgery. Regardless, I think its a real good pickup.

Jesse Carlson got called up by the Blue Jays today. Not many will remember him, but he was an Oneonta pitcher back in 2002 who had a solid season. He's the first victim of Ready Gate to make the Majors.

He requested his own release once Clay Rapada was recalled to Detroit instead of him.

Like this guy couldn't see the Detroit bullpen struggling and see himself called up within the week? He must REALLY hate Toledo. Wow!

Regardless, he's probably better than Hakina Rapada.

I don't see why he would hate Toledo. He has been around for a while, figured he might be able to make it to the Tigs because of bullpen questions coming into the season. But then when he was doing "well" at AAA and didn't get the call figured he probably wouldn't. So I don't see anything wrong with him requesting to leave to find a team that would call him up.

Mateo was hitting pretty well, im surprised by this. He could of atleast played the bench for them.

I think you've got the wrong Mateo. Somebody had to go to make room for Hollimon, and it's not worth shuffling players throughout the system to keep a minor league utility man around. With guys like Cosme, Almonte, and Wathan around, Mateo was redundant and unproductive. He was the right choice to go.
