Third time for Shane Loux - Player of the Week
Toledo Mud Hens right-hander Shane Loux has been named International League Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week of July 29-August 4. This marks the third time Loux has received the honor this season (June 24-30, July 8-14).
Loux was selected for the award as a result of the stellar performance he turned in on Thursday, August 1 versus Charlotte. In that game, Loux fired his IL leading fifth complete game, allowing one unearned run on just four hits. The win was his sixth in his last seven starts and marked his fourth complete game since June 23rd. Since that date, Loux is 6-1 with a 1.66 ERA in seven starts.
Loux is the first player to win a weekly IL award three times in one season since Adam Dunn was honored three times during the 2001 season. No pitcher has been tabbed IL Pitcher-of-the-Week three times in one season since Syracuse’s Nerio Rodriguez in the 1999 season. Loux is the first Mud Hen to be honored three times in one season since Tim Tolman was named IL Batter-of-the-Week three times during the 1987 season for the weeks of June 8-14, June 29-July 5 and July 13-19.
Maybe he should be called up!?!
