To heck with patience, things looking good for UM with LeVert who is deciding today.

    LeVert

edit: he goes to the same school as Taco Charlton(sp) um football commit, who tweeted: UM will enjoy the athlete(s) from Pickerington Central over the next few years.

    from umhoops.com

ESPN’s John Stovall watched Walton at the All-Oho Super 16 in Columbus and named him as a standout player at the event.

Walton is a smooth scoring point guard who is an effective shooter to 20 feet. He is a solid shooter who is good at freeing himself for drives into the paint. Walton is also a very good passer and could be the heir apparent to Trey Burke at Michigan.

ESPN also updated Walton’s player profile with the following bottom line:

Walton Jr. Is a true point guard the can control the game with his ability to push the ball and deliver it to open teammates and run the show. He is good scorer and when in ryrthum can drop big numbers. As he adds strength and makes his jumper a consistent weapon he will be even more productive. Walton is tough, competes and has great upside.

Indiana All-Stars' Glenn Robinson III has earned respect for his playing skills
Glenn Robinson III has earned respect for his playing skills

Any story written about Glenn Robinson III inevitably mentions his dad, Glenn Robinson Jr., the former Purdue All-American and NBA star.

    Big Dog. Big shoes.

But these days, there is less curiosity about Robinson III and the link to his father, or the similarities and differences in their personalities on and off the basketball court. The younger Robinson has paved his own way, earned his own name.

"Every time I see him play," said Indiana All-Stars coach Craig Teagle, "his stock goes up with me."

The 6-6 Robinson, who goes by "Tre," has earned rave reviews with his All-Star teammates this week. On a team filled with talent from the immediate area -- nine of the 13 players on the roster are from either Marion County or a neighboring county -- there was a bit of unfamiliarity with Robinson, who played at Lake Central High School in the extreme northwest corner of the state.

Only a sophomore but Michigan PG Trey Burke may be the best player at the #LeBronJamesSkillsAcademy. Can score, create, & distribute.

So happy Trey is coming back for another year. His ability to score in the point mixed with his outside touch makes him one of the best PGs in the nation. Looking forward to some UM hoops this year.

More on Burke and some positive reports on Hardaway as well

    LeBron James Skills Academy

Some quotes from the link above:

Hoopniks.com called Burke “arguably the top lead guard in attendance” among college players:

Trey Burke was arguably the top lead guard in attendance. He showed efficient shot-making, distributed the basketball and had an all-around game. He should be one of the elite point guards in college basketball next season as he continues to progress and impress with his skill level.

Diamond Stone Set To Visit Michigan - RealGM Wiretap

Diamond Stone, a 6-foot-10 center who is rated as a top-5 player in the 2015 class, will make an unofficial visit to Michigan this weekend, according to AAU coach DeShawn Curtis.

"His father (Robert Stone) is from Flint," Curtis said. "So, obviously there's some ties there. Honestly, he's kind of wide open as far as what he's looking at. He likes what they're trying to do there at Michigan, trying to build the program back up.

"Obviously they had a great season last year, and he likes what they're doing there right now and wants to check it out."

Stone averaged 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds as a freshman at Dominican High School in Wisconsin.

That all sounds great. The biggest surprise from that is the Horford comment. He was injured most of last year, but looked raw otherwise.

I am pumped to the gills with excitement for some Michigan hoops.

I always thought Horford would develop into a superior rebounder. The big question mark for him is his defense. He'll be OK offensively.

There were some rumors prior to the start of last season that Horford was close to taking a lot of minutes from J Morgan.

Yah, I think that starting 5 is pretty locked.

I heard the Horford hype last year and he didnt look so good in the action he did see. Ill believe it when I see it. It would be a huge bonus if he could be a strong contributor.

I'm excited about Stauskas' shooting. We could use it to complement our other guys.

Jon Horford twisted his knee at practice yesterday. Beilein said he was concerned, and would get a report on it today. Oh boy...

McGary has been limited at practice. He's undergoing treatment on a previous ankle/foot injury. Doesn't sound serious, but still worth noting.

Beilein said Horford has a strained knee and thinks he'll be OK for the opener. Good to hear it's not serious.

That is good news. Seems to be some pretty good press for Caris Levert as well, he has gotten zero press:

Five storylines from Big Ten Media Day

As for comparisons to current NBA superstars, LeVert has that covered. Given that he got to Michigan at around 6-foot-5 and a willowy 165 pounds, the nickname his teammates have come up for him seems appropriate.

“We call him ‘Baby Durant,’ not just because he has that body type, but he can do everything he does,” Tim Hardaway Jr. said. “Put the ball on the floor, defense, shoot the ball very, very well and rebound.”

It appears that among the high-profile talent Michigan has coming in, they may have managed to find a diamond in the rough,as well. If LeVert can contribute in a meaningful way this year, he could go a long way toward stretching defenses, providing backcourt depth and locking up opposing long, athletic players.
I am excited to see Stauskas shoot during games. At least we don't have to rely on Stu Douglas anymore.

We went to a game last year and the new seating and HD scoreboard were a great upgrade. The seats were actually comfortable in the 200 level. My only disappointment is they kept the row numbering from the floor. Instead of the 200 level rows starting at 1 they still start in the low 20's. I can't wait to attend another game this year to see all the improvements they've made in the last year. We're looking at the Central game at the end of December. Tickets are only $10.

I attended the first half of the game tonight. The new concourse is similar to Concesco fieldhouse's, which is to say it's nice.

As for the freshmen, I thought Stauskas, Spike and GRIII were all impressive. Lavert had a couple sick moves. McGary is relentless on the boards, but he doesn't have much "ups" and was inconsistent on D. He might not play too much against teams with quicker big men. Obviously, Spike was the big surprise and should be a very serviceable backup PG.

This team is a nightmare to guard. NMU packed the lane and let Michigan kill them from outside. If you play them man to man, they'll have 3 or 4 guys on the court that can beat you off the dribble if you over play them. If Michigan plays good defense, then their current lofty ranking is justified.
