Well yes, of course... But I'm just a little ticked off about the two losses and the whole Dawson thing... A good run to the finals of the BTT sure would help my mood a bit.

Brandon Wood just got his MSU legacy moment. Let's build off it boys!
Jim Leyland talking about Rod Carew: “I was just talking to Rod Carew. He and I broke in together in 1964, in Cocoa Beach and Melbourne, Fla. He went on to get 3,000 hits, and I went on to backup catcher in Double-A. He’s in the Hall of Fame. I’m sitting here having a Marlboro."

Am I crazy in thinking that's a pretty good bracket for us? Missouri will be tough, but I'm not sure anyone else should really challenge us...

Msu *should* advance to the sweet 16, but I have to imagine fans would have preferred pretty much every other 8/9 feeder. Memphis is top 10 in kenpom, and st louis is top 20.
Getting to the sweet 16 for sparty will be tough relative to what most one seeds have had in the past, but if they get there, getting to the elite eight shouldn't be a problem.Ajax is only the third most valuable tiger.

Who ****ing cares about KenPom. He had Wisconsin ranked number 1, until ****ing February. And to answer your question, no this is not the toughest 8/9 region. UCONN is better than Memphis in the South, and Kansas State is in the East.
No Spartan fan is going to be scared because of a KenPom rating, that's just nonsense. Izzo owns any coach on 1 day of rest in the tourney, and I have no doubt in my mind that he's not scared of the kid that coaches Memphis

Yeah, Izzo is gonna make Pastner look downright silly on a one day turnaround (and i'm not sure they get by Rick Majerus anyway).
Rick Majerus provided one of the best Izzo quotes of all time. Majerus was on ESPN saying Maurice Ager wasn't athletic, and Izzo responded: "Ager is so athletic, he could jump over Rick Majerus when he's laying down on the beach". I was only trying to say is that I think Memphis is better than both Louisville and New Mexico, and that kind of sucks to have to a face a team like that in the second round if you are a 1 seed.
Msu is still the better team and should win each of their games until the final four. It just might be a tougher road than expected.
As for the other 8/9 teams, you are free to disagree. Of the eight teams that qualify as an 8 or 9, I think Memphis and St Louis are the two best.
Memphis (by far the best)
Stl
Kansas state
Alabama
Creighton
Iowa state
Uconn
Southern miss (by far the worst)Ajax is only the third most valuable tiger.

I agree that MSU got the toughest 8/9 draw, and I'm not sure it's particularly close.
That said, I also would probably concur with those that assert we received, arguably, the softest 3-7.
That Memphis/St Louis game is going to be an amazing clash in styles. Is there any time of the year better than that first weekend (Thursday - Sunday) of the tournament!!!I love it here. During the second half of the MSU-OSU title game in Indy, I worked my way down to the lower bowl, and ended up sitting directly in front of Gary Harris. Got a picture after the game during the awarding of the trophy, but didn't want to talk to him... he was sitting by himself, and looked very distant -- almost a little sad. It was kinda weird.

Apparently Nix was arrested for pot posession last night (he was driving and it was in his car). Dumb thing to do, but thank god it wasn't a DUI or something much more serious.
Stupid for a likely senior captain...suspending him a game (or two) seems like enough given he gets in no more trouble and does what he needs to do to clean this up.

I'll just add that it's not that big of a deal if a) he was NOT high while driving and b) it was just for personal use.
While I've certainly dabbled in my day (especially up at MSU) and don't give a crap if some kid is smoking a joint, it's just stupid for someone in his position to put himself in that spot.Obama '12

After the 2010-2011 season, i'm cool with saying just cut the fat. Pun intended.
*** Tom Izzo couldn't be reached on his phone, but he submitted this comment through Matt Larson: “Based on the information we have received, Derrick Nix has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team, and his future with our program is uncertain. He made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy.”

Yikes. Whatever coach wants to do I'm fine with. He is the one that knows of any past issues that Nix has had.
IF he was high while driving then that'd be a huge deal and I'd be content with booting him. The problem is that he could have had THC in his system from weeks prior that still tested positive.Obama '12

Nix, assuming he can walk the line, will be back next season. Very emotional Presser. Hard not to pull for the guy, even after doing something that dumb.
