And congrats to Jim Thome, who homered twice tonight to reach home run #600. I think he hit about 400 of those of Detroit pitching!

Wow. Yankees have three grand slams in one game. The third one was by Granderson.
First time in history that three grand slams were hit in one game by the same team.

The last play of the game was hilarious.

They put Posada at second base, and he got the grounder for the third out... and did a triple hop before throwing to Swisher (who was put in at first), and almost threw it away. Swisher went down to get the hop.
As someone in the Yankee game thread said "Posada knobloched Swisher". lol

(btw, the Yanks were losing 7-1)

I started watching that game after the Tigers finished. Holy crap! It seemed bound to happen, as the Yankees must have had at least a dozen plate appearances with the bases loaded. And no Yankee took an at bat off, even with a huge lead. Melvin must have been tearing his hair out.
