The Yankees are trying desperately to trade for one of the elite starters. The Yankee's may well get one of them because they have so much financial and organizational muscle but it is amusing to me to see their fanbase essentially demanding that other organizations make these trades because otherwise they are hosed against the mighty Red Sox, plucky Rays, etc.
The same thing is going on with Liriano. Neither trade makes sense until July. Unless the Twins or Mariners feel already overmatched by their competition.

Notes:
1. Yankee "fanbase" is not flipping out. {insert yawn here}
2. Red Sox aren't mighty, except if you mean their fans are mightily, wickedly lame.
3. Let the games begin.Of all the things in life I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

The Twins already have one extra starter they are going to have to stash. If they send someone to Rochester and he does OK, I think moving Liriano to NY for a major haul is almost a slam dunk for the Twins, even if they are in contention. I think they will avoid avoid another Santana saga.

Ivan Nova is the monster of that rotation. I would love love love to see the Yankees tank, even if for just a year.

While playing MLB 2k11 on Xbox...blathering comment from Steve Philips-bot was that CC was likely to end up in Cooperstown. I won't even look up his numbers out of respect for Jack Morris.

Wha????
Sabathia has a much better ERA+, a better ERA (in a more hitting friendly environment), a much better win percentage, better BB/9, better K/9, better HR/9, better WHIP.
The only thing Morris has over Sabathia is innings pitched, which is at least partially due to CC being mid-career.
Provided CC is able to pitch close to his current level of effectiveness until he is 35 - he is likely, very likely, to be headed to Cooperstown.

10 posts and this thread has taken so many odd turns.
CC is a terrific pitcher.
I'm sure many teams are trying hard to get Felix. There's not really a team that shouldn't be inquiring.2009 Piston: Rip Hamilton - Guard

Colon, Prior and Millwood are stop-gaps until they can either buy/trade for better pitching or decide to bring up Brackman, Betances, and/or Banuelos (likely in that order).
Burnett is an enigma, but management had to know that when they went out to get him. Then again, stranger things have driven the minds of ambitious teams.
I'm not particularly fond of their starting pitching after Sabathia, but they'll find a way to bruise through.

Oh, I'm aware of that, but this is Plan B, make no mistake. Plan A was to sign Cliff Lee or trade for Zack Greinke. Having failed to do so, they probably will offer an overpayment for Felix Hernandez or Francisco Liriano... IF they become available. Thus, Plan C is no certainty.

gee, its just so nice to see a white sox fan so concerned about the Yankee "desperation".

All that Yankee desperation is because of their division. They wouldn't be desperate if they were in the NL West,

The Cliff Lee thing blew up in Cashman's face, but I don't know how any Yankees fan could have thought that money would buy him out when some of the fans spit on his wife during the playoffs. Did they expect any differently? Sadly for the Yankees the actions of a few fans cost them a valuable asset. Greinke would not survive in a major market. Sure looks good, but his psyche would have never fit.
I don't see Hernandez in New York. I just don't think he'll go for a deal with them. As for Liriano, I guess we'll have to see. If they don't trade for him in July, I doubt he comes to NY either.
