I had it last year on DirecTV. Unfortunately, financial circumstances are making that difficult this year so I will probably just get the mid season special in July.

And it's up to 60 games per week and everything? In the end I don't think i'd have alot of Blackout problems with the Tigers. But being i'm probably in the Nats, O's and Phillies blackout zones it might be kind of annoying.

directv and it's amazing. The Superfan was just eh, but worth it only because of the HD games. I am hoping with the new satellites DTV will be offering a lot more HD MLB Games....They offer an s-load of NBA HD games and NHL HD games through those packages, so I would only imagine it may be a full season of Detroit Tigers HD Broadcasts for me.....I may never leave the house

hope that helps....It's a strain on the eyes a tad. Check out Buffalo though, I live in maybe the worst blackout area of all time (NYY, NYM, CLE and PIT).

Agreed. It was great to be able to watch that much baseball especially during the pennant race.

Yup, add 50 for the superfan package, which gives you up to 40 games a week in HD! :) That's going to be awesome this year.

And FYI - I also have DirecTv and it is amazing. I get pretty much every single game except for some of the Saturday FOX games, blah. I bet I'll get 150 games, though, the majority of which will be in HD.

so you are looking at $219 for the season in HD, vs $99 on MLB.TV? That is a huge difference. I am sure that HD is worth it itself, but I was hoping they would be closer in price.

It beats having to sit at a computer too.

I have it on DirecTV. I love it for the out of market games. When my wife hits the sack early, I love to watch the West Coast action.

If you are in a Fantasy Baseball League, it's awesome to have. I love being able to scroll around and watch my players - and to watch my starting pitchers.

I'm a Comcast watcher, but I pretty much do the same thing all around. Wife goes to bed and I stay up watching all the west coast players on fantasy team. In my house, we unofficially adopted the San Diego Padres as our 10 pm team for countless Tiger-Pad double-headers. It's completely worth $169 if you're a baseball fan.

I totally agree - for about $6.50 per week, you get a TON of entertainment. I don't care what kind of financial pickle we get into, I'll find $6.50 a week to keep my EXTRA INNINGS. I think I'd dump NFL TICKET before EXTRA INNINGS. So many other people have NFL TICKET, it wouldn't matter - plus it's only 17 days per year (once per week). With EXTRA INNINGS - you get baseball EVERY DAY during the season! I can't wait for the season to start!

I can't wait for the day when Extra Innings just broadcasts EVERY game. It'll happen someday.

I have Directv and MLB EI is definitely worth it. I can see pretty much every game except for Fox blackouts on Saturday. I don't like MLB.COM because it strains my eyes to sit at a computer and watch a game. The MLB.COM picture quality is not nearly as good.

Absolutely agreed. I had MLB.com for one year - and I couldn't stand it.

Dish dropped EI last year so I had to try MLB.com....it took about an inning to figure out this wasn't gonna be for me. BTW, do not subscribe to Dish if you're an out of state Tiger fan. They won't likely be carrying EI for a long time.

That was one thing I really enjoyed about last year was setting the sleep timer on the tv and falling asleep to the Dodger games. He truly is a national treasure.

I've had MLB EI through DirecTV for about 9 years, and its outstanding. I also cannot take watcing 3 hours of baseball in front of the computer. This year, as Yoda said, most games will be in HD. HD is an absolute godsend for sports.

Most eastern time zone games come on a 4 PM for me, so I set the DVR to record the game, and start watching about 5 so I can skip the commercials. I've seen all the Wallside Windows and Belle Tires ads I can stand.

I've subscribed to Extra Innings every year since they started and also the internet package for the last three years.
I just got a 50" plasma and DirecTv HD. I am dying for the season to start!!!

Ok, Punk asked, and I'd like to reask the question:

Does comcast offer HD games for EI's? I just ordered comcast (due to be set up on Friday) and the lady on the phone was of no help when I asked about the EI package. "I don't know about that sir. Not until the season starts, will we have prices and any of the info you need".

Anyone?

There was no HD channel on comcast last summer. InDemand says there should be one, but I think it is up to the cable provider whether they have it, and Comcast did not.

if the MLB EI HD Package is anywhere near the capabilities of the NBA and NHL's HD offerings on DirecTV, this will be seriously the greatest summer of baseball viewing in my entire life.

Still haven't heard back from my contact. I would hope for the HD but I don't think they will. I know that Comcast's channels share with NHL for a while until their season is over.

If I *was* forced to get mlb.tv, based on a variety of reasons, could I still hook my laptop up to my tv and play through there? I think i'd be ok watching a game on a computer, all things considered, but was wondering if that is an option as well.

nope. mlb.tv is incapable of being displayed on a tv.

I was being sarcastic. If your tv is capable of acting as a computer monitor, there is no reason it can't display mlb.tv.

One thing that CI does that I don't know if EI will do......it broadcasts both feeds (home and away) of each game. And if there is any HD feed of the NHL game, you will likely see it.

I have another question about EI.

Example:

Say the Tigers are playing at home. Do they broadcast FSN Detroit, or the other teams broadcast?

It's usually the home teams broadcast. Sometimes they will show the road teams for whatever reason. I would say it's 80/20.
