East Coast Pro Showcase

East Coast Pro Showcase - Home
Dear Fan Club Members,
The Tigers are hosting the East Coast Professional Showcase beginning this Saturday, August 1 through Tuesday, August 4. The ECPS, one of the elite showcases in the country, consists of the top high school juniors east of the Mississippi. Major League Baseball scouts, college coaches and agents spend countless hours traveling the country in search of talent, and this showcase provides a one stop shop for evaluators to see the some of the top talent in the country all at one time. Every year 80-110 of these players will be drafted in the annual amateur draft, and each player must receive an invitation from a MLB team in order to participate.
The players are evaluated by the MLB Scouting Bureau, are educated on the MLB draft process, and provided the opportunity to compete in a professional environment using wooden bats in front of representatives from every MLB team. They are assigned to teams, represented and coached by one of 6 MLB organizations.
This event is free to all Flying Tigers season ticket holders. To gain admission, please show your STH ID at the main gate.
If you are not a Flying Tigers season ticket holder, you may still attend the event at a cost of $10 per day. Children 12 & under are free.
For all those who picked up a schedule at the last Fan Club meeting, there have been some changes. The updated game schedule is as follows:

I just received an e-mail response from an e-mail I sent to Ryan. Showcase has approved selling us the same books that the scouts and coaches get for $45.00. While it is a little pricey, for a stat geek like me, it is well worth it. If you want to see my book before spending the money, I will be somewhere in a shaded area, probably on the third base line, around 10:30

I've never been to this before, thought about stopping by to check it out. Are the concession open or is it BYO?

The main concession stand was open last year, but not the pizza area.

Latest mailing from the staff says that they will be selling their prospect book, but rosters are not available. If you haven't found them yet, you can download from here: East Coast Pro Showcase - Rosters/SPARQ

Be careful with those rosters. When I go to the web site, I get last years rosters. Some of the guys listed have already been drafted and signed. I bought their prospect book last year. It has a page with each team roster, complete with position, hometown, ect. Then there are individual listings for each player, two guys to a page.

I hope some of you get out there to catch the action. These guys are the best prep prospects for next year's draft from a good chunk of the country, and it may likely be the only time you see guys like A.J. Cole and Yordy Cabrera in a Tigers uniform.
Also, I would expect to see Patrick Leyland (Jim's son), and Ricky Knapp (Rick's son) play for the Tigers team as well. Both are fine prospects in their own right with Patrick having a shot at being a top-five round pick next year.

If you have a beach umbrella, I suggest bringing it. I don't plan to be there. Yordy is impressive.

The ESC was pretty good this morning. Some of the bigger names that played in the 1st game were: Yordy Cabrera, Pat Leyland, Stetson Allie, & Justion O'Conner.
