I had been shopping at Kroger since I moved down to GA until I walked into one of these a couple weeks ago. Night and day, man. Blows Kroger away for grocery shopping here in Athens. It reminds me a bit of Chic-Filet in the sense that it's evident the corporate offices put a high premium on service.

Wrong again. No union and only workers can be stockholders. Watch the show. I have no idea how they will represent the company, but I know many happy employees.

Never bought a disappointing product at Publix! My wife and I even had them make our wedding cake and it was widely praised by our guests! I wish they were here in NY.

The only place I've seen Publix is when I go to Lakeland. It's a very impressive Supermarket.

As for Walmart, I've shopped in discount places my whole life and Walmart is the worst I've seen, at least the ones near me.

Makes sense, I guess. Just seems a little off-topic for this forum, though. Grand Rapids related news isn't posted in the Whitecaps board, but I digess. Mods have seen the thread and don't deem it necessary to move it to an off-topic section of the board, so that's all that matters, I guess.

It will happen. The Unions are feeling a little more saucy lately and they will try to get in. Publix will either cave or have to turn into Walmart and be hated by the lefties.

It's not just a grocery store. It's the greatest grocery store ever where it smells of flowers and rainbows and angels fill the air while delicate harps play over the PA and your food tastes better.

Good point.

Maybe Publix should get the word to middle Georgia though. They missed the memo on customer service domination and competetive pricing.

Your obvious dislike of Publix is puzzling and appears to be unwarranted...
The citizens in the Lakeland, Florida area are very supportive of Publix...
Thousands are employed by Publix and have been for many years...
Publix is a good neighbor in our community and supports many charitable efforts...

Publix is not "Walmart Lite" in any sense of the word...

You continue to drive into your fairy land of mis assumption. Actually the Publix founders nave said that if a Union is ever found necessary to improve their working conditions, they will either sell or close the chain. They take a lot of pride in employee ownership. They promote from within. Not Eden, but a nice place to work or shop.......okay, I wish their beef department was better.

I'm sorry this is turning into a debate. I say either let's drop it or move it to the B&G. Just meant to be an info blurb because many non member locals read our LFT thread after the Tiger threads.

I think the only Union groups down here are cops, fire fighters, and maybe strippers..I heard that an union tried to come into our city years ago and was kicked out!!

The LFT portion of the board isn't exactly burning up bandwidth with new posts as it is. Anyway, Publix is an advertiser at Joker Marchant / LFT games so in a round about way a case could be made for the relevance of the original post at least.
