Coolest Christmas Present Ever. I mean, EVER.
I'm a little late in posting this, but my lovely bride has given me the coolest Christmas present a Tiger fan could ever hope for, and the best part is, it came completely out of the blue. I didn't know I wanted this, so I never asked for it, and of course, the best presents are the really cool things you didn't know you wanted in the first place.
My gift was a package featuring two Infield Box tickets, parking included, for a Tiger game at some point this season. Included in this package are dinner in the Champions Club; a Tigers hat and official MLB baseball; and I get to watch batting practice from the infield dirt behind home plate.
But that's not the best part. The best part is I will get to throw out a ceremonial first pitch from the area in front of the mound, with my name being announced on the scoreboard just before doing so!
Now—I dare anyone to tell me this isn't the coolest I-had-absolutely-zero-idea-this-was-coming Christmas present a guy could ever get from his wife!

But tonight, I say we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

You can buy the opportunity to throw out a first pitch?

I hope so. Otherwise, I don't want to know how she swung it!

Very awesome. That should be a great time. Just don't one-hop it from in front of the mound!
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight; my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. -- Psalm 144:1-2

That's very cool! What a great gift.

That is a perfect gift for a Tiger fan. Just remember, there will only be 40,000 people watching you throw that pitch. And don't worry, if you flub it, they'll only replay it on the MLB network and FSD an infinite number of times.

I would probably get out there, say **** it, and throw it from the rubber anyhow, and just claim I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. I would like a complete wuss throwing it from in front of the mound.
Very awesome gift!!Up above, aliens hover, making home movies for the folks back home.

Chasfh has a wonderful wife I have had the pleasure of meeting. Quite lovely and let's the men talk as she listens intently. I'm quite sure she is analytical as she evaluates those around her and of course Chasfh. Of course she would select what Chasfh would never suspect. Now I'm curious of how Chasfh repays his tremendous debt. Bravo!

I'd go with the knuckler. Although to really honor this forum, the screwball would be the ideal pitch selection!

And I thought my wife was the coolest when she got me a Miggy Triple Crown bat for my birthday! Hopefully you get a day with good weather so they don't skip the bp. Awesome gift (and the food in the Champions Club is incredible)! I think I remember the Tigers having an online auction with a bunch of cool packages, some with throwing out the first pitch included.

I'm quite envious of Chasfh. I would love to toss out our first pitch. Unfortunately I'm afraid that will never happen here with our current leadership. Actually I would rather put on my jersey and be the "part-time" bat boy for the first couple of innings. Child/father/child. Any 2nd generation bat boys out there?

When you throw this pitch, will you be wearing a shirt with "Motownsports.com on the front and back , hopefully I didn't just ruin the behind the scenes negotiations going on?

Very cool, Chuck. I think you should wear your spikes out there. Give the pitch a good old fashioned circa 30's/40's windup.
Do you get to choose who you will be throwing to? Personally, I think throwing to Brookens would be very cool.

You know, if you spent a little bit more, you may be able to get Brandon Inge to sign a one day contract to catch it for you!! Something to think about!

A Miggy Triple Crown bat is way cool!
Good point about the weather. I didn't even consider that, because this is a five hour trip for me to come in. I will have to ask.
Not for free.
Yeah, that's the ticket: look and act like a total douche before flinging the ball into the ninth row of the stands. What could go wrong?
If it's anything like the Cubs, they assign this awful task to the most junior member of the team. Which, if I play my hand right, might very well be Nick Castellanos. But tonight, I say we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!
