Feb 22 seems a bit early for a spring training game, but Opening Day is April 1. Also seems odd that the Florida Southern game is in the middle of spring training games rather than the first game.

I wouldn't mind going to the first one at Disney. I fly down to Orlando every February, this would work out well. Then I can proceed to kick the golf courses asses in the Orlando area.

I was there last year for the first one, it was awesome since everyone was pumped for the first game, also since 75% of the crowd were Tigers fans made it even better at Champion Stadium.

Awesome! I think I will make it down there just in time and be able to get to the last game of the spring, only thing is it will be all of the non-roster players that game. It will really suck being there the week between Spring Training and Lakeland's season opener!

I assume the early start has something to do with the World Baseball Classic this March. They probably want the games spread out over a longer period of time so they can work everyone into the schedule, especially those that may be leaving at some point. There also seems to be less split squad games.

I thought the same thing. We went to the home opener last year and it was the second game and it was the beginning of March.

Sat. March 2, New York Yankees, at Tampa, 1:05 (split squad for Tigers)

We may have to check out an away spring training game next year. Steinbrenner Field is much closer to Clear Water than Lakeland.

    My dream;

Fri. March 15, Toronto, at Lakeland, 1:05
Sun. March 17, Washington, at Lakeland, 1:05
Tues. March 19, Tampa Bay, at Lakeland, 1:05

Fly in Thursday, go to the Toronto, Washington and Tampa games. Fly out Wednesday.

2012 was my first trip to ST and we had a blast. For anyone on the fence about going, you only live once.

I have annual passes to Disney. Probably going to make a weekend out of one or both of the games against the Braves at Disney. Will also probably make the March game in Port Charlotte and the game in Tampa

The Tigers' website is showing the final spring training game against the Rays is at Tropicana Field. It would make sense. Finish the game and then fly out of Tampa to Minnesota.

Rumor is, that day was set aside for a WBC exhibition, when that didn't happen they moved the FSC game into that slot.

For those thinking of catching a game at Disney, tickets went on sale yesterday (I believe the first team to start selling tickets). Pretty good seats are still available, I scored two last night in the front row for the game on the 3rd. They increase prices after Jan 1st.

Florida Southern will be well into their season and if the lock in was not made early, then they would have to adapt to an open date.

True, but colleges usually play on weekends Fri - Sun, so I am not sure that was as much of a factor.

    Detroit Tigers Release Spring Schedule

The Lakeland home of the Detroit Tigers is reaping the benefits of the Tigers' postseason success.

Ron Myers, the team's director of Florida operations, interest in spring training tickets is peaking after the Tigers captured the American League pennant and reached the World Series for the first time since 2006.

"We've been getting phone calls since the first of November," Myers said. "We're anticipating a big spring."

Scheduling difficulties partly related to the classic also had an effect on the Tigers' annual exhibition against Florida Southern College,

For the second consecutive year, the Tigers' top minor league players meet Western Michigan University on an off day for the major league club. Tickets are $5 for the March 5 contest.

Also Lakeland will host the annual Tigers' Fantasy Camps the last week of January and first week of February. The theme is celebrating the 1968 Detroit Tigers. Craig Monroe was the only new name I saw on the "scheduled to appear" list.

Mickey Tettleton was on there too, I don't remember seeing him in years past.

Hint on dunedin: Avoid US 19. After crossing the bay on US 60, take a right on the McMullin-Booth Parkway. About two miles, left on Sunset. Continue on sunset until you feel lost as it narrows to two lanes and right on Drew. the stadium will be on your right.

So season tickets and 5 game packs are on sale, but they have yet to announce pricing? Interesting. We've been told there will be an increase over 2012, anxious to see what that may be.
