Rick Porcello's Future
So ... If Sanchez resigns, what would you do with Rick in 2013?
For this poll I'm assuming he has one option year left - but that's just a wild guess.2012 & 2013 Adopt A Tiger: Dean Green (Lakeland Flying Tigers)

I'd keep him...there's little depth in SP otherwise !

There is some feelings out there that Buerhle wants to play in the Midwest, and that the Jays would wants sp back. Maybe Ricky plus for Buerhle?
I just met you, and this is crazy,
I want JBK to see this, could you quote me maybe?

Trade him if you can get value for him. Otherwise keep him. Some seem to think Smyly is a sure thing, but I want to see more than 100 innings before I count on him. Plus, every pitcher is an injury risk, so you can never have too much pitching depth.

I wouldn't mind trading him, IF we sign Sanchez. But it would really depend on what we could get for him.

It does start getting thin after Porcello and Smyly (Below, Wilk, um, um ...)
That's why I wouldn't mind sending him to AAA to work on a few things.2012 & 2013 Adopt A Tiger: Dean Green (Lakeland Flying Tigers)

I'm positive the team would trade him or send him to the bullpen before sending him back to AAA, barring an absolutely disastrous start to the season.

At this point, with Sanchez (or some other FA starter) not yet locked up, I'd keep Porcello. Unless the Tigers got another SP in return for Porcello. There needs to be an "it depends" option.

PS, slightly off topic, but here's another example of what a fine young man like Rick Porcello is capable of:

I don't see any realistic situation where Porcello isn't in the rotation in 2013.
If you sign Sanchez, Porcello's leash would be shorter. But he's still going to be the fifth SP going into 2013, with at least 1/2 a season to show he can take a step forward.Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight; my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. -- Psalm 144:1-2
