Default Miguel Cabrera Likes To Hit Home Runs

Just heard an interesting stat - of Cabrera's 44 home runs this year, 40 came off a RHP (in 502 PA)

I'll have to work on a list of RH batters who hit 40 off RHP in one season, here goes:

    1999 Mark McGwire: 501 PA - 49 of 65 home runs
1998 Mark McGuire: 498 PA - 55 of 70 home runs (better living thru chemistry!)
    1997 Mark McGuire: 508 PA - 46 of 58 home runs
    1996 Mark McGuire: 417 PA - 40 of 52 home runs

    2001 Sammy Sosa: 574 PA - 51 of 64 home runs
    2000 Sammy Sosa: 551 PA - 42 of 50 home runs
    1999 Sammy Sosa: 525 PA - 45 of 63 home runs
    1998 Sammy Sosa: 521 PA - 54 of 66 home runs

    1932 Jimmy Foxx: 570 PA - 46 of 58 home runs
    1934 Jimmy Foxx: 584 PA - 41 of 44 home runs
1938 Jimmy Foxx: 612 PA - 46 of 50 home runs (guess all the LHP called in sick)

    1938 Hank Greenberg: 555 PA - 49 of 58 home runs

    2001 Alex Rodriguez: 583 PA - 40 of 52 home runs
    2002 Alex Rodriguez: 544 PA - 49 of 57 home runs
    2007 Alex Rodriguez: 532 PA - 47 of 54 home runs

    more to come

Good stuff, but how many of those 40-plus home runs were off right handed pitchers, as a right handed batter?
That's hard to do - unless you course you had some "helpers" along the way.

Ah, okay. Yeah, the list is a bit shorter. Cabrera is one of 9 players since 1974 to do that. As an aside, and this would be a great trivia question, there's only one switch hitter to do so: Lance Berkman with Houston in both 2002 and 2006.

    1998 Mark McGwire (55)
    1999 Mark McGwire (49)
    1998 Mark McGwire (46)
    1996 Mark McGwire (40)

    1998 Sammy Sosa (54)
    2001 Sammy Sosa (51)
    1999 Sammy Sosa (45)
    2000 Sammy Sosa (42)

    2002 Alex Rodriguez (49)
    2007 Alex Rodriguez (47)
    2001 Alex Rodriguez (40)

    2010 Jose Bautista (46)

    1995 Albert Belle (42)

    2004 Adrian Beltre (42)

    2005 Andruw Jones (42)

    2012 Miguel Cabrera (40)

    1987 Andre Dawson (40)
