No Rockies or Diamondbacks? I guess MLB is really giving a big phoooey to traditional rivalries.
How about the 4 game stretch with the Pirates, 2 in Detroit and 2 in Pittsburgh? I remember seeing schedules like that from the early/mid 70s.

The most bizarre part of the schedule is that they don't play the White Sox until July 9 and then play 14 of their next 31 games against the White Sox.

Starting the season in Minnesota? On April 1? It's like MLB is hoping for a snow-out or something.
Stuck in FL for the duration.

38 away & 38 home games against the AL Central (10/9, or 9/10 against each team).
16 away & 16 home games against the AL East (6 or 7 games against each team).
17 away & 17 home games against the AL West (6 or 7 games against each team).
8 away & 8 home against the NL East (3 against 4 teams, and 4 against Washington).
2 away & 2 home against the NL Central (all 4 against Pittsburgh).
0 games against the NL West.
Personally I'd rather do:
9 away & 9 home against each AL Central team (72 games).
3 away & 3 home against each AL East & AL West team (60 games).
3 away games against 5 NL teams and 3 home games against 5 NL teams (30 games against 10 different NL teams). These interleague games can be rotated year-to-year, play the NL Central & NL East one year, play the NL Central & NL West the next year, etc.

I like that they have finally embraced Pittsburgh as our traditional rival for interleague.
I wouldn't mind if they were in a four team group with the Ohio teams, playing both Pitt and cincy each year, but I guess they want to preserve the battle of Ohio. It's just that cincy is closer to Detroit than Pitt, and Pitt is about the same distance away from Cleveland as cincy is.Ajax is only the third most valuable tiger.

I like this schedule, it's different. The multi-city trips are more even in 2013 with multi-series home stands. This year the Tigers had 5 trips of three cities, but only had 2 homestands of at least three series. Next year it's and even four and four.

Great observation from Twitter on potential negative to playing Miami in Miami to finish the 2013 season:
Jason Beck @beckjason
Agreed. RT @mdjaxon: @beckjason Tigers losing DH for the last 3 games next year. That could be HUGE if the race is as close as this year.

Yeah, I heard an interview with Rob Neyer today and he mentioned that he didn't think the DH would change anytime soon. I know that there hasn't been much chatter about it lately. I just have a hunch that if baseball does in fact address September expanded rosters, they might try to tackle the DH as well. And I think that with the DH becoming less of a highly paid nondefense old guy type, teams that would have been against adding that extra salary (as the theory goes anyway) would be more inclined to accept it. Also, if they do decide to go one way or another, I think teams would have an easier time including the DH in thier short/long term plans rather than getting rid of it.
Personally, I fall on the side of having Ps hit, but I'd be fine with the DH in both leagues.

I kind of like it the way it is. I like that the AL and NL are distinct leagues and have never cared for interleague play. The different rules help keep the leagues separate.

I've not been much for interleague play either. But it isn't going to go away. Because of that, I'd like to see the rules be the same across the leagues. The way it is now would be like having a 3 point line 2 feet shorter in half of the NBA while the other half of the NBA kept it where it is now. (Now that I think about it, I suppose one could argue the different dimensions from ballpark to ballpark is somewhat similar.)
Is the DH really the only thing keeping the league separate? The league offices were combined into the MLB offices several years ago were they not?

All Saturday home games are 7pm start times with the exception of July 27 against Philly (3pm). Does anybody know if FOX has changed their national games to 7pm opposed to 4pm? I haven't been able to find anything online.
