    Default Food price question

We usually eat out before or after a game. But, the fam. wants to eat at Copa.

So how much are hot dogs, brats, dip-n-dots & a large drink? Oh and pizza as just asked by my 8 year old.

    Thanks tons!!!!

I think dogs are 3.50. Not sure about the large drink. Might be around 4. I think pizza was 8, but it might've went up. I tried Googling it, but couldn't find anything specific.

Dogs are up to $4.25. They have the $5.00 value meal which is a dog, bag of chips and a small drink.

There are two sizes of pizza slices. The round is $2.50 and is from a small cut into 8 slices. You get about three bites out of it. A full pizza is $15.00ish. The square deep dish slice is $5.50 and a quarter of a large. A full square deep dish pizza is $17.50.

Edit: Visited the concession stand, large pops are $5.50 and smalls are $4.00. I haven't seen a brat stand near me and I'm too lazy to go looking.

I haven't seen a dippin dots this year, but I haven't really looked for one. With their financial troubles maybe the Tigers didn't re-up the contract.

It comes down to how much you value the experience. Of course you'll pay more at any event, but even with that taken into consideration, the Copa prices are harsh. If you look at it from a purely food standpoint, you're getting laughably ripped off. If you look at it from a family enjoyment/memories standpoint, you're getting somewhat ripped off. You can take sealed bottles of water into the park. You can also take a soft side cooler (16" x 16" x 8" max) with "individual sized portions of food"...not sure exactly how much constitutes an individual portion, or how closely it's inspected. If your kids are young enough (probably about 10 or under), the cooler can include juice boxes in addition to water.

I remember the chicken tenders basket (~4 tenders, fries) being a "reasonable" $7.50 or so.

Those are up to either $9.00 or $9.50, but compared to the standard foods, is still a deal.

They have dippin' dots. People behind me had some a few Thursdays ago. In the heat they were more dippin' mush.

We have tickets for the 4th. It's going to be HOT, with a chance of thunderstorms. But with Verlander going, it should be a good game. Also, fireworks!

5 dollar meals are what i get. but they made the drink smaller (12 instead of 16 oz) and the bag of chips smaller too. But the hot dog seems the normal one. I then bring a bottle of water and peanuts. Prices are getting crazy though I think drinks were 4.50 a few years ago. Hot dogs are over 4 dollars too.

    FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Guests are permitted to bring individual portions of food and factory sealed clear bottles of unflavored water in to Comerica Park. For kids in the group, or medical purposes, juice boxes are also allowed. Outside food and beverage is not permitted in the suites.

I tend to pack a lunch like going to a picnic, or stop at a Potbelly's or Subway on the way to the ballpark.

I bought a bottle of water several years ago and it cost $3.00. That was probably seven years ago or so and I'm sure the price has gone up.

I've gone to games with my wife and son when he was about 12 and 13 years old and I wanted to make it fun for all of us. Between tickets, parking, food and souvenirs, we spent over $200.00. And that was 8 to 10 years ago. Now I imagine it would be much more.

When I go to games now, I don't buy their $8.50 beers or their overpriced food. We go out to eat before the game and at times we go out for a drink, closer to home, after the game.

Going to a game with your family should be a good memory. If that means spending some money, it's well worth it for the good memories. I still have pictures of our last game at old Tiger Stadium and I look back at them fondly. It makes no difference how much we spent, the memories are priceless.

One thing I've learned about Comerica Park is to not sit in LF during the hot summer months. Between the sun beating down on you and the crowd around you, it makes it hard to breath. And the seats are SO far away from home plate, it's hard to see a thing. My favorite seats are the upper section, along the 1st base line. IMO, they are the best seats for the money. You get a birdseye view of all the action and you can see into the Tigers dugout.

Yes it is...but the times I've been there, it's pretty crowded. In other words, don't expect to go in 25 minutes before the game and grab a quick sandwich. Prices there are certainly better than the park, but still a dollar or two more than an equivalent menu item at a restaurant away from the park. There are a couple decent restaurants/sandwich places in Greektown that are still within walking distance of the park, unless your kids are really young.

Bottles of water were $4 last season.

That's true if you're further up, around the scoreboard. Last season I picked up two tickets in section 148, two rows back from the bullpen for $11 each on Stubhub. Had a great view of the action, got to watch the Tigers pitchers warm up up close, and had two home runs hit into our section. Sure it was hot...but Phil Coke often takes the hose off the bullpen wall and sprays down the section 2-3 times a game.

Yeah I hate sitting out there, especially on a sunny 7:00pm start game because the glare is just so horrible. Maybe it's just my eyes but because of the sun/glare and distance to the action I have a really hard time picking up the ball until like the 5th or 6th inning when the sun finally starts to set. Now if you can sit out there during an overcast night it's not so bad but even then you are still a ways away from the action which sucks. Plus you don't really get a good view of the scoreboard unless you constantly want to turn around and look up, so overall I try to stay away from the LF pavillion seats when I'm getting tix.

we always bring a softside cooler, not paying for water makes that $4 for a soda not as hard to pay for. We've always put things like fruit snacks, pretzel rods, cheese sticks and those kind of items in ours and never had an issue. Also see a lot of people walking in with a subway bag (one right on adams st.) and that seems like a smart way to go as well.

The pizza is 1/4 of a medium for the round and 1/4 of a large for the square (the last time I got it anyway)
Put me on record. Prince Fielder will still OPS 850+ in years 7-8-9 of this contract. (sucks that my signature has to stay this for 7 years now)

Took another stroll last night searching for the requested items. I didn't see any brat stands, but the Italian sausages are $6.00. Tonight I'll look for the dippin dots.

We do that too, including the subway stop. My wife will only drink Sunkist Diet Orange pop, so we manage to put a few plastic bottles on the bottom of the cooler than put the water and subway on top.

We stopped at American before a Tigers game a few years back and my female friend managed to stuff coneys, fries, and pop into the bottom of her purse. Nobody at the gate noticed.

I very, very rarely ever buy any concessions at Comerica (I occasionally grab a slurpee). It's just so overpriced for the quality of food - plus Mike Ilitch is a jackass for many reasons - that I just won't do it. The last couple games I've gone to this year I went to Mercury Burger Bar and Sweetwater Tavern before the games. Funny enough the bill is probably as high as it would be at Comerica for food, but it's much better.

    .
Your female friend wasted her energy, and probably ruined her purse with the odor of coneys, because you can bring in outside food. I've seen people walk in with whole Pizza Papalis pizzas. Women who sit across from us bring a picnic basket to every game. We'll bring food in from time to time for weekend games. We usually have our food vouchers for the weekday games.
